No this is a different story. Darker than Lionheart Brothers, and very very good. At least from what I remember. Haven't read it since I was 10 or 12.

I LOVED that movie and the book when I was a kid! Astrid Lindgren was a legend.

Is this where luciferase transgenic mice get their genes from? Or is that jellyfish or something? Or is it all the same stuff?

There's a very quick glimpse of the Necromancer spirit in An Unexpected Journey. I suspect Cumberbatch was in the voice studio anyway and they asked him to do a couple of lines that were then distorted into "scary-ghost-Necromancer-voice".

Did anyone else find that the Person of Interest theme started playing inside their head after reading "You are being watched"?

Of these I've only read 2312. But I loved it. Definitely one of the books of the year for me. Going have to bookmark this page, there is a lot here that I want to get to.

I knew I'd seen it before but for a sec I was sure it was in the extended version itself... Thanks for clearing that up.

That's very cute. But I didn't understand if they were planning to release him or not. If they do, he breeds, and his condition is inherited, that's not exactly good for conservation (though great for Nicky's individual welfare). Is the point that they'll keep him as a tame mascot for educational purposes? Because

I've never found English to be especially difficult, but then it's not that different from my own language (Norwegian) and I've been exposed to it pretty much since birth through tv and music.

I knew Queen Margrethe is an artist but I never knew she did book illustrations professionally. Love the fact that she did Tolkien art, and I have to say I like her style a lot. She's a cool lady overall, now she's even cooler in my eyes.

Maybe her plans are "relevant" or maybe the Machine gives them the number of the person who needs help the most at the moment. And who can be helped.

Maybe Reese is jealous. Maybe in the next episode Reese will somehow save Carter from the eeeevil Cal, and it'll be sweet Reese/Carter lovin. Or not.

I can see where you're coming from but I completely disagree. There are all different sorts of genres in all kinds of culture and art. I don't agree that everything can be pigeonholed without making up new genres though, and the genres themselves don't stay rigid for all time. Rock music, for example, means something

Wow, way to kill an interesting discussion... Have a good day.

I've seen this kind of thing from airplanes too, usually in the clouds. If I remember right, it was like this but with the plane's shadow instead of my head.

For me lazy writing is when they pretend to care about the science but really don't. Or when they write a story that isn't even trying to be internally consistent, or characters with less depth than a cardboard cut-out. In other words, when the author underestimates their audience. If an author writes a science

Whoa, you went there! Lol!

Ah. I knew I'd heard it before.

Any technology sufficiently advanced will seem like magic to a culture without the knowledge of that technology. I don't remember who said that, but I agree with it. I'm not saying elves and wizards and Sauron are just using tech, but I am arguing that there's a definitely overlap in genre. I'd say Embassytown is a

Staying on topic, I've never had a bias against fantasy or science fiction. I started reading fantasy as a kid without even knowing it was a thing. I loved Narnia and Astrid Lindgren. I was reading Anne Rice's vampire novels religiously mostly because I loved the movie, and then I picked up Wheel of Time at 14 or so
