There's some good steampunk, there's a lot of bad steampunk, and there's lots of other stuff (usually fantasy type things like Miéville's Bas-Lag novels or the Myst games) with steampunk elements. And of course there's so much art and cosplay that I think the internet might just collapse under the weight of it soon.

I really like his version of C3PO. Especially the fact that he made the design fairly simple and functional looking. A lot of steampunk art just heaps on the cogs and wheels without them seeming to have much in the way of function.

Yeah, no reason they shouldn't work as well on animals as they do on humans...

I'll definitely check out your book! Bit dubious about the Robert Jordan influence (sorry!) but the short version definitely sounds cool. Plus Annalee's awesome review!

Not too much running around "talking" to everyone in sight and trying to figure out bargaining then? I started out Fallout 3 and Elder Scrolls Oblivion but lost interest pretty quickly. Now, I quite enjoy the worlds and the underlying stories. It's just that talking to five different people just to see if one of them

Whatevs...

Wow, charming...

Hey, it was readable before! Starting to hate this image upload system. Anyway: [bit.ly]

That is why I have this tattoo... Reminds me that the world is huge and full of possibilities, and that no matter how bad things seem at the moment, life goes on.

Sigh. I wish I liked RPG's better... This looks like a cool story.

I'll keep my Roman short sword on the ready! ;)

I saw an news story a couple years ago about a family on a farm here in Norway who did the same thing...

Ehm, Spartacus is actually pretty good at nuanced storytelling. Bloodsplattered, sexy, visually overdone storytelling, but with actual character development. I do wish the gladiators would use their brains and loot some armor from the Romans they kill though. But no, they like to go into battle naked. *facepalm*

Well, this is supposed to be in training, where it is specifically mentioned that this character hung around the camo stand for ages more than necessary. He's also a bit of an artist which is hopefully why he overdoes it just a tad. When he does it for real it's with mud and leaves though...

As mentioned, the Capitol fashion is pretty awesome. I had imagined something more futuristic, but the "Lady Gaga goes Victorian" look is absolutely perfect.

Yup, that's what ski jumping is about these days. They will stop a run of the wind is too hard, too low, too uneven, the athletes are jumping too far(!!), etc. What happened to this being an outdoor sport the bored spectators wonder...

That video had me hoping they'd made a new "home" for the band, like the Plastic Beach or Kong Studios. No such luck...

The day Damon Albarn stops making music is the day he dies. Or starts doing something else just as obsessively and successfully.

Two in 2D's room, two on his feet I think, and the one Murdoc hit him with... That was without me knowing it was an ad for Converse.

Cool! Makes me like him even more, and I've loved him since Memento...
