A friend of mine actually did that. She'd dated this guy for years and told him several times that she didn't want a diamond unless it was an heirloom because of conflict diamonds as well as personal stone preference.

I just have never had any interest in diamonds. It's sort of odd. I know lots of women and even very little girls who love diamonds and anything that looks like them, but even before I found out about the abuses of the diamond industry I found them to be boring. Why would you want something that looks like clear glass

Yay, Austin~

My friends and I discovered these in 10th grade or thereabouts, and I'm always enchanted that people are still finding them online today, but every time they get a mention the first thing that springs to my mind is the phrase "farting fuckbird", and I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Yet another reminder I need to rewatch Baghead. I bought it on DVD, but haven't watched it since it was in theaters. I just have a hard time getting any of my friends to watch horror with me, and I have trouble staying focused on a movie by myself.

My godmother's sister makes an appearance this season as well! It's a speaking part... not sure what/what episode, though. I got distracted by the set gossip when she was talking about it.

We got a building kit similar to the one pictured (a series of gears of various sizes which could be interlocked on boards and then turned as one machine using a crank handle) for a kiddo I nannied for.

yeah, I'm a pro at the Belle walk. I started doing it in the halls of my school within a year of learning to read. And my walk to class included 2 flights of stairs. It was a small school, though.

Nope. I've stepped weird going down stairs but I'm waaay too much of a pro to hit a tree ;)

I'm naturally a binge-reader. I can read a typical-length paperback in about 3-4 hours, so left to my own devices for years I would finish 1-2 books a day. I had to check out the maximum from the library to make the trip into town worth it for my parents.

My grandmother was born the same year as Shirley Temple. She grew up with her films, and shared them with my mother when she was a child in the 50's and 60's. When I was growing up in the 90's, my mom in turn shared the same films with me. She truly left behind a legacy.

Thanks for this. I loved Shirley Temples films as a kid, and read her biography one year. She was a diplomat as an adult and ran for Congress at one point. She explicitly said several times that as an adult she wanted to be remembered for something other than "The Good Ship Lollipop".

I have my first Skype interview for a job tomorrow. Is there anything I need to know about cam interviews that's different from a phone or in-person interview?

My interview is in Rochester, so it's closer to Maine. I'm anticipating some culture shock because the internet tells me that Rochester is one of the bigger cities in NH with 30,000 people. The population in Austin is 1.8 million.

Rochester, so near Portsmouth! What is Portsmouth like?

Rochester

I'm terrified of heights, don't even like climbing footstools or people picking me up when they hug me, and last year a friend and I used a groupon to go to a trapeze class. I totally froze up for a while on the platform but eventually I did grab the bar and jump off. And it was fun! I'd like to do it again.

Anyone on here from New Hampshire? I have a job interview for a job up there on Monday morning, and I live in Austin and have lived in Texas my whole life. I'm trying to get a feel for what the area is like in case I get the job, but Google has not been very helpful so far.

Of course now I had to google what happened to that little girl. Answer: she's awesome and still acting and dancing. Yay!
