One of my mother's friends was from Florida and she always unequivocally said Florida was not part of the south. At least not the Antebellum south.

I often jokingly refer to Texas as a separate country because it does feel wholly unique from any other American "culture."

I consider us Southern because you can't get much more southern than bumping into Mexico, but we do have a much different culture than the Deep South (Georgia, Mississippi, etc.) because of our history. BUT I consider pretty much any state that fought with the Confederacy to be Southern.

That's interesting - I'm from Texas, and from my experience, Texans do NOT consider Texas "The South" or even part of "The South." Texas is TEXAS, and the South is all those nutters in Alabama, Mississippi and wherever all else.

Fucking ay. I waaaaaaant it.

Wilder is completely right (and also Gene Wilder). Yes, his version took liberties, but at least it wasn't a complete hijacking of the source material that combined another soulless, cynical Burton/Depp Hot Topic ad with a "paint your feelings" exercise for Burton's daddy issues. I really wish they'd let the Tim

After interning a Sacramento summer in suit and hose, I've purposefully crafted my entire professional life around never ever having to wear pantyhose again. I extend my deepest sympathies to you and your sweaty, sweaty professional obligation.

These are even better!

That's not really what he said though. He said things are getting better in the lit world and that its seeing changes. Then as an entirely separate thought, he mentioned that Frank Bruni said fuck all about theater. Theater's sexism problem is pretty intense. It's much much much easier to get a novel published as a

Dang that sucks. I am all for strict dress codes, but I feel making people that live in hot places to wear not only dark colors, but heavy fabrics that cover everything is so cruel. Obviously there will be no floral dresses in a funeral home, but I know I could design something out of different fabrics and methods

I grew up in and around the funeral industry (my family is an owner/operator) and myself and the other hostess have never had issues showing some elbow. There are ways to dress professionally and colorfully without being in bad taste.

Well, let's face it, pretty much anything Gladys Knight does is fabulous.

Well, A. He's not, like, working the fryer. And B. He's actually sort of a musical savant. His stage persona/drug issues don't allow people to see how bright he actually is, and Public Enemy never showcased his talent with musical instruments. He's no dumbass, as a lot of people assume.

Want so so much. Where are they from?

I think Arya will come back with the Greyjoys somehow. As for the Hound sacrificing himself for Sansa—I am skeptical. I think he is sympathetic toward her, but not loving at all.

Wait.. The book isn't even out yet, and they are planning a movie? Can't the book still turn out to be, you know, really shitty?

Jaime will kill Cersei. Arya will not have to. In fact I think everyone in her prayer will die, but not by her hand... except the Hound, who I think is still alive. And I think she will kill him and feel conflicted about it.

*sniff sniff* My poor Theon. A sad day for his various salt wives and bedwarmers...
