As you will note above, I provided references for studies in proper peer-reviewed scientific journals. Why don't you provide similar legitimate references on the "value of prayer and strong religious beliefs." I imagine that when you reference religious beliefs, you are referring to only Judeo-christian beliefs.

Why don't you read some of the scientific studies and actually evaluate the argument and evidence before simply dismissing it because it does not fit with your biased opinion? Demonstrating there are mental and physical health benefits is not making something politically correct. Is it politically correct to advise

If you wanted an actual discussion I would think you would have responded to my question rather than reply with another question. I was genuine in wondering what you perceived to be occult in yoga and meditation that was somehow different from Christianity. Your use of the word "occult" also seemed highly pejorative.

How is yoga or meditation more "occult" than christianity or any other religion?

Yes, exactly! Even though there may have been an individual name Jesus who was a rabbi, the version in the NT is pure fiction. It is akin to some rabid John Lennon fan writing his "biography" based on nothing more than word of mouth and as if the author was actually there.

These movies are so frustrating. Unfortunately the persecution complex is so hard wired into christianity that they have to make it up where it doesn't exist.

Ha! Couldn't agree more, LA Julian.

Very interesting! I had heard a bit about the "Workers' Cemetery" but hadn't taken an opportunity to read much about it. Cheers! And thanks again for indulging my geekiness:)

Thanks for the reply and the information! I always like to learn something new!

I appreciate your imput, LA Julian! Cheers for the information!
You are right, there are texts that present an image of the Underworld that could have served as source material. In addition to not being so familiar with Egyptian culture, is my bias as an archaeologist means I tend to preference archaeological evidence

I agree about the trend of using Anglo-Saxon actors to play Romans (not about the rest of your comment, but I don't want to start an argument that will lead neither of us to change our minds). Though the thing to consider is that Rome after a certain point was extremely diverse. It controlled all the way from Britain

Well said!

Giving this film a C based on the review and the trailer seems like grade inflation to me. Is it really worthy of being called average? I suppose I don't know and I suppose I won't find out. Leaving aside the whitewashing and its historical/mythological inaccuracies (I never blame movies/tv for these, since they are

You must watch a lot of tv.

I watched the pilot, and it certainly was filled with cliches, but I still enjoyed it. Most pilots aren't very good and are filled with cliches (I just forced myself to watch the pilot of Zoo on Hulu, which I so regretted. Bones had to have one of the worst pilots I have ever seen - it stuck with me it was that bad.

Yes, it is actually based on a 2014 documentary about LA County Hospital's ER that addresses many of the problems regarding shortage of resources, funds, doctors.

If you watch the 2014 documentary that this show is based on, it explains a lot of the problems. It's a really good documentary.

Bangles “Walk Like an Egyptian” ? WTF? Why did they include that on the list?

Thanks for the link!

Did Bedelia cut off and cook her own leg? Or are we meant to interpret that scene as evidence of Hannibal's survival, i.e. she was his first stop after recovering from the gunshot wound and fall? Does Bedelia even know how to properly cook a leg?
