Totally agree on the Bedelia point. She was a fascinating character when she was mysterious. During the 3rd season she lots much that made her interesting. They changed her from being a mystery to just being a monster.

Although I am unspeakably sad the tv series is over, the ending did feel very resolved. Despite my sadness, I feel the ending was satisfying, which I wasn't expecting at all. Well done Bryan Fuller and team!

I agree. She was great until she randomly showed up on the plane at the end of season 2. I understand what they are trying to do with her in season 3 and Anderson is wonderful, but the character is definitely overused. She was better when she was a mystery. Now the icy demeanor, which maintained her mystery in S1 and

You make all excellent points. You are absolutely right that even if slavery is outlawed it wouldn't have meant that there was no slave market. I think I am just frustrated by the writing. I feel that using slavery to create characterization for a black man is overused and cliche, much in the same women on TV are

Good point that he may not be dead but transformed.

Thanks for the information. I assumed that since he ended up in London he was from an area of Africa under British imperial control (Eastern and southern Africa) and thus under British Law. Central Africa would have been under the control of Belgium (and France in some areas). But I suppose they don't specify where

Was anyone else not surprised that they killed off the token black guy?

Yeah I really want to see that reunion. I worry a bit that the show will continue to put it off and Ethan will be so smitten with Vanessa that the writers won't give it the depth and emotion it deserves.

Jeez 12 hours! That is a whole lot of Greek tragedy! Did you get a few intermissions at least? Sounds great - especially the part where I have to go to Chicago (I grew up there but sadly am far away due to a job).

Actually in Stannis' case he was asked by Melisandre, not "God"/the Lord of Light. He was told by a seer just as Agamemnon was told by the seer Calchas.
Calchas told Agamemnon that if he wanted to sail to Troy he would have to sacrifice his daughter. And if I recall (and my ancient Hebrew is certainly not as good as

I thought the sacrifice of Shireen was both tragic and fascinating. The whole thing was clearly based on Agamemnon and the sacrifice of his daughter Iphigenia so he could sail to Troy. I hope Selyse takes on the Clytemnestra role and guts Stannis and Melisandre.

She was also the only Muslim-American/POC in the main cast. It's frustrating because Homeland was criticised about not having any positive representations of American Muslims among its main cast and then they added Fara as the token one and proceeded to kill her off. Well done.
