Ugh terrible oversight of me not reading a Gizmodo article five years ago

Yeah, no. You’re very much falling into the Just World Fallacy.

The vast majority of people are not already saving as much as you.

You’re pretty out of touch dude.

not enough hunky Mueller to be their handiwork

And maybe the people around you are saving for retirement? But the truth is many many people, especially young people, are barely able to cover expenses much less save significantly. Be grateful that you apparently live the kind of life where you are surrounded by affluent people.

That reminds me of my new company’s new insurance plan, which involves walking up to first aid kits strewn randomly all over town.

I’m on the 16-bit diet, where I only eat food I find on the ground. I tried Atkins and Keto but they lacked the cardio from fighting off street walkers and gangers.

I increase mine with every raise. If its a 4%, 2% more goes to my 401K, if its 5% 3% goes. if its higher at least 1/2 that % goes to my 401K.

I saw that my raise goes into effect next pay so I just upped my contribution. I try to do so when I get a cost of living increase and/or a raise. Even 1% each time adds up. I got a late start on saving so I need to work on closing the gap. I know I never will, but once again, something is better than nothing.

There’s good news for Americans saving for retirement”

I do it when we get our cost of living adjustments, because then you don’t really miss the money.  If you just pick a point in the year (maybe tax return time?) to do it every year then you don’t have to get around to it, it just becomes a thing you do.

you can’t necessarily expect everyone else who might attend a party in your home to be as respectful.

Yes you can expect people to be respectful of your things. What is this bullshit? There is no way he didn’t know better and was doing as he pleased because he’s an entitled ass.

“...it’s a price to pay for being hospitable.”

Exactly. I thought “what a useless letter” and waded in anyways. Whoa. Now I’m actively courting the Giant Meteor again. Everyone is awful, and we should just let some other species take over.

Yeah it’s funny, I actually kinda agree with both “sides” of the issue cuz I’m just as introverted and bad at small talk as everyone else in my generation, but I think people are getting really defensive when the main point original letter was basically “people won’t even look up from their phones to order”.

I am amazed at how much vitriol this particular Salty Waitress letter is generating. It segued into a lot of get-the-fuck-out-of-my-face comments. “I wear HEADPHONES.” Get over yourselves. It was a pithy question.

Am I the only one who goes outside to take/make a call if I’m sitting at a bar?
