I don’t see this show with a disdain for horror movies. The title sequence alone references Halloween and Nightmare on Elm street and is a pretty decent mix of horror and camp, which is what Ryan Murphy excels at. Most of his failures occur when he falls in love with his creations and then wants to play Sassy Dress Up
