The socioeconomic issue masquerades as a “chicken-or-the-egg” situation, when it’s really rather clear when you look at the history of different ethnicities within the US.

If it was truly a socio-economic issue, then you would find a comparable level of socioeconomic success between black people and later immigrants,

And Winona Ryder spent an entire decade relegated to b list supporting roles...for shop lifting.

I watched the shit out of that movie on hbo in 1996. Freshman year of college and the dorm had HBO. Back then HBO only showed three movies a month on repeat. I have also seen the first wives club an ungodly amount of times for the same reason.

Please do not assume that I haven’t seen Dial M for Murder. I even saw a restored 3D print once (what a treat). The problem with using it in this post instead of A Perfect Murder is that Ray Milland never says, “THAT’S NOT HAPPINESS TO SEE ME, IS IT.”

You should open an Italian restaurant.

Some of the reporting is not providing the entire picture of what’s happening. LA Times got it wrong this morning when it reported that the damaged main spillway was not being used. Also, it’s not the main spillway hole they’re concerned about right now. I’m in the area (safe, high ground) and have been watching since

And her name was Cassandra....

...you mean there are other reasons to teach besides love?

Conjurings have proven that chicken blood mixed with a pinch on ground goat hoof curse cancer. Or causes cancer? The reading was unclear.

Chicken blood doesn’t cause autism, at least.

Public education has benefited me by allowing me to live in a society composed largely of people who’ve been given a basic education. No one has burned me or anyone I know alive for being a witch or sorcerer, or killed me to ensure a good harvest. When I’m sick, I can go and see a doctor instead of a shaman or priest.

They did Nazi that coming.

Yes! There is no love for smart girls (so shrill/bossy/knowitall!) and no social support.

I thought that was going to happen anyway... what with the big one finally coming and everything east of California plunging into the Atlantic Ocean.

FYI I asked if he invited Jonathan Chait, and he told me he only reads The Cut.

Personally, this one is king of worst fonts for me.

as an early elementary teacher, i feel your pain. only this year did i switch from the much-maligned comic sans to century gothic, thinking i would be from further font scorn. it’s like i’m doomed to wear denim rompers appliqued with apples and #2 pencils.

Incorrect. In this age of online craft stores, a new villain has arisen. The font has infected everything from yarn stores to karate studios, restaurants to super friendly realtors. Don’t let the chapped fingers of Papyrus claw their way onto your products.

Let’s be a little gentler with the San Rafael Public Library. From what I understand, their official budget for new books is $0.00. :( May explain the Comic Sans.....
