Am I a real fan even though I’ve never been to a race, never purchased F1 merch and never owned a car by one of the constructors? Do I watch driver to survive, yes.  Do I watch free practice 2, frequently.  Do I wish hitting the red button would stop the terrible commentary from the Sky team, YES.

I’d like to balance out the “real” fan opinions and say anyone who is interested in watching or learning about any aspect of F1 is the actual real fan. Gatekeepers can eat shit. If all someone cares about is off-track drama, more power to them.
