And don’t forget Lovecraft Country for HBO! I’m so excited for that one. (I also highly recommend the book— it’s excellent!)
If I called in to donate and Jared Leto picked up the phone, I would hang up and try again, hoping to talk to someone less shitty.
I fostered for a pure breed rescue a couple of times and I was one of the people approving or denying applicants, because I knew the dog the best. I conducted phone interviews to get a feel for them, and sometimes you can just tell if they’ll be a good match. I had a really active young dog who needed to run or else…
I’ve had good and easy experiences with both the local humane society and a pure breed rescue.
Maybe it’s just because I’m PMS-ing hard, but your post brought a happy tear to my eye, especially the part about your family. It’s so easy to get cynical, especially the way the world is right now, but there is hope. Thanks for the reminder. :)
We had a big wedding, and I ended up loving it. Initially I wanted something small and intimate, but we both have big, close-knit extended families, so small was never really an option. We saved money where we could and were incredibly lucky to have some help from our parents, but in the end it was just a really big…
I saw a lot of movies (for me) this summer: Wonder Woman, Spider-Man, and Atomic Blonde.
I’ve only ever lived in NJ and MD, so I’ve never had access to buying booze in places other than liquor stores. It sounds nice, but in the same way I occasionally think “Sure, I’d like to win the lottery, that would probably be really nice.”
I’m kind of wondering if Cameron’s comment about Sarah Connor not being a “beauty icon” was a passive aggressive swipe at his ex-wife Linda Hamilton, who has in the past shared what a god-awful partner he was.
Well said, Patty.
What he’s missing is that it doesn’t have to be Wonder Woman OR Sarah Connor— we can have BOTH. They’re completely different women, because there isn’t just one type of woman, and the idea that we can only have one archetype of feminist icon is fucking stupid.
I think the only way he’d get pushed out of Batgirl would be if Justice League bombed HARD, and I doubt that will happen.
I’m also grossed out remembering that Jillian Morgese, who played Hero, lived at Whedon’s house during filming. I remember reading an article at the time the movie came out, but a quick Google search didn’t turn it up, so I’m paraphrasing.
Slightly OT, but Whedon didn’t have anything to do with the Wonder Woman that came out this summer. His script leaked recently, and it’s... not good, and it’s definitely not feminist.
I was saying to my husband after the episode, “I was so scared Tormund was going to die.”
I haven’t seen this movie or listened to this song in years, but it still pops up in my head every so often, for no reason at all.
Christ, he probably says “encyclopedia” and “renaissance” the way Ted did too.
If that’s true, Evans secures his place at the top of the Chris List (Normally the top spot rotates based on which one— Evans/Hemsworth/Pine— I’m looking at at the moment). I LOVED that movie as a child and had a movie poster hanging up in my bedroom.
When I first came to Maryland for college, I laughed at the people who called it a southern state. But I’ve been here for 15 years now, and outside the Baltimore/Washington corridor (and even plenty of places within it) there are places that feel like the Bible Belt. There’s a lot to love about my adopted state, but…
