The story and character aspect of WoW is a strange thing. On one hand, it is probably one of the deepest set of lore of any RPG and there are so many characters and storylines that it makes the most dense Bioware or Japanese RPG look like a Mario-game storyline in comparison.

Technically this wasn't my first PC game, but my recollection is that it was one of the first games I played on a real computer besides Zork. The system was a Northstar (with real wood siding) Z80 based CP/M computer. The game was a simulation of an oil tanker that you had to navigate through the inside passage. Now,

20 million? Surely they are worth more than that.

This was a staple of Atari 800 gaming along with most of the EA games. Oh crap, now you made me think about M.U.L.E.

So do you spend most of your time in game tapping out words on an on-screen keyboard? That doesn't sound that fun. Or is there some simpler way of recalling words once typed and you actually spend most of your time doing battle or jumping around or something a bit more exciting than typing words?

@ifandbut: There is a plan to update it, but one of the issues is that the start auction and cancel auction functions now require hardware events, aka mouse or keyboard input in addition to other arguments.

This is one of those huge changes that effectively makes the entire player base a giant set of beta testers. Otoh, the changes will make a lot of the combat mechanics feel fresh.

Sadly the real killer app of the 3DS will be 3D porn shots, not mega man, but mega T&A and a little p.

Ugh, so long to wait for this.

I've been playing Okami again on my PS3 (yes I have a fatty).

Are the problems with the platforming where you apparently have to just guess, aka trial and error jumping, fixable via a patch? If it is something that doesn't come up that often, maybe it isn't that big of a deal, but it has been mentioned in several reviews and seems like the kind of thing that could be fixed with

These issues were obvious from the first day of E3 videos and reports. In addition to having a table in front of my couch like most couch/TV viewing areas I also tend to keep the room fairly dark which is also a Kinect no no and I play games sitting on the couch.

@Giggers: So don't you spend most of your online time being pissed at other people for sucking or having people pissed at you for sucking or does the difficulty indicator for a quest/boss keep that to a minimum?

I tried Monster Hunter and I couldn't get past the tedium. Maybe it comes together as you run with other folks, but the first 5 or 6 hours at least in single-player were pretty boring and seemed to encompass most of the elements that people complain about in MMOs without the pluses.

As much as I dislike my Wii for various reasons, it still has the most outstanding library of motion and casual titles. It will be years before MS or Sony will have something similar. And that is assuming they can actually divert enough resources to make it happen, including convincing third-parties to divert

@unadventurer: Do you get a degree from Phoenix University for figuring out how to do that?

Don't do it. FB is evil, evil I tell you.

There are going to be some very unhappy WoWers. Everyone had assumed it would be released in November.

@SecretMoblin: Well I haven't pre-order it as I'm still a bit concerned that the control scheme will be more work than fun, I definitely am not concerned with the look.

@SpinachPuffs: That's true, we don't have an official US price point, but I'm still betting on it being more like $300 than $250 since Nintendo doesn't intend to lose money on the hardware.
