I think her experience is pretty similar, but she doesn’t talk about it very often. Her post-op experiences have been pretty awful, but she had a lot of people (doctors and nurses) call her weak or a drama queen, so she just dealt with it. I didn’t know her hair color was a factor in pain management. I always tell her…

My mom, a red head, has always reacted weirdly to pain meds. I thought it was just her. Obviously not. I’m just some rando, but I’m curious. Are you more sensitive to meds too? She doesn’t go near opioids.  

I feel like “band” is being generous to them. Calling those frosted tip, chonks that howl and twang-screech a band just seems wrong. More like, a group of men with the same terrible stylist and the ability to sell tickets at county fairs. Contry is the correct genre name for them. 

I recommend Christopher Hitchens’s ‘The Missionary Position.’ No one hated/hates that old hag more than he did. I believe he posits that she enjoyed the suffering of others, (especially brown people), AND she lost her faith but kept going because she liked the attention. RIP Hitchens. I miss him.
