Oh look, Nathan Grayson just took the stupidest possible stance that he possibly could on this issue. Just like he does with all other issues. Ho hum...

You can partially blame Anita for this. Ever since that shit hit the fan, anything with even the vague scent of feminism upon it gets pounced on in gamer communities.

No, but anyone who unironically uses the term “enthusiastic consent” clearly subscribes to a toxic ideology. That’s not something a normal, mentally healthy person would ever say.

So... they’re operating under the law in most states, then?

It contains some very dubious claims backed up by even more dubious statistics. That, and it’s relevance to SB, is likely the source of the backlash.

When it comes to this issue (the European migrant crisis), NPR’s coverage has been consistently abysmal. They’ve completely failed to engage with the complexities of the issue and instead paint this cartoonish good guy/bad guy narrative. I generally expect better from NPR.

Fuck off. She herself said that she was fine with it.

No, it’s a stupid idea. In criminal trials, the defendant must have an opportunity to cross examine the witness in all but very limited circumstances. A deposition would probably be inadmissible if she weren’t available for cross examination at trial.

A video deposition wouldn’t be admissible if she weren’t available for cross-examination.

You can blame Colorado law for this sentence.

It might have something to do with the fact that they love their kids and don’t want them to die. Our kid will be going to private school. Why? Because our local public schools are: incredibly low-performing, incredibly unsafe, and over 90% black (the rest are almost all Latino). A sensitive white kid would get torn

Funding is not the issue. The average inner-city school spends more money per pupil than the average suburban school. The issue is parents, culture, and dangerous schools that the best teachers don’t want to work in.

No, but it would certainly be relevant to her character and general credibility. It would also lend support to the claims coming from the pro-Depp side of this situation.

Oh STFU. If Depp’s ex wives came forward with abuse stories of their own, would you be claiming that their experiences were irrelevant? Of course not. It speaks to a pattern of behavior and is relevant to the credibility of the current case. Likewise, the fact that Depp’s exes are both supporting him is also relevant

I’m confused as to why people are confused.

Not that I believe Holtzclaw, but you’d better believe that these women are going to get a huge payout from the city.

BLM has nothing to do with racial equality. The entire movement is founded on a false premise. Namely, this notion that blacks are disproportionately likely to be the victims of unjustified police killings. The statistics completely contradict this assertion.

I think the point is that stalking is hardly a gendered phenomenon. Women are somewhat more likely to be the victims, and men are somewhat more likely to be perpetrators, but the gender gap isn’t actually all that large.

But nobody in this comment section IS considering his voice. When people seize unto a narrative, they tend to look for evidence which supports that narrative and minimize or ignore evidence which challenges that narrative. It’s called confirmation bias. Denials like this one become a Rorschach test for whatever
