I'm curious what you mean when saying Vita can stream high quality video to youtube. Do you mean the videos put out by devs and Sony that are actual Vita footage? Or have I missed something and it is now possible to video-out to youtube?

Exactly, which is why I have no doubt that AC4 remote play demo at Gamescom was legit. Works like a charm :)

Or at a friend's house! My buddy's getting a xb1, so I can go over with my Vita with my PS4 safely left at home (he's in a different city) and we can show off each other's exclusive games... This is just one admitedly niche use case... Or is it? But yea, forget about using this on hotel wifi for instance!

Oh, there's other stuff in here too—the interface, the sharing, stuff like that. All good features, but personally, none as impressive as remote play. Although it's worth noting that it may not actually work as well as shown here (Stephen notes that remote play on the PS3 wasn't the most reliable thing for him), but

That's pretty much my opinion, you said it better than I did ;) I take issue with his imperative more than anything. There are exceptions that DO advance the medium, without being in line with what usually males a great game. And sure there are plenty of examples to back up his claim, but so what? Let them be bad

Did you know there's a guy who's cut every AC game into a movie-style video on Youtube? You might prefer watching the future games that way instead of playing them ;) He's done the same for other games too such as Uncharted and now the Arkham Batman games (Kotaku has featured him in the past)

Seriously! How many new IPs are Ubi working on... How can anyone even fathom to accuse them of not working on anything new lol. Watchdogs is not even out and Division is announced, Child Of Light... I love Ubi... Even when I hate them lol

Liberation HD will def be a console release. And I for one will buy it and play it again (as I already played it on Vita) it's a damn good game.
I get the sense that they may have originally planned to not give this years release a number, but given the stigma surrounding AC3 they decided to... And they can get away

That's pretty much exactly how I feel! I mean I played AC 3 AND AC Liberation last year (and I played AC 3 a second time this year lol) and I agree AC 3 was not the game it should have been... My theory is the new engine was built for next gen and getting it to work on current gen ended up being an issue, both

Why would you think that? Are you so lost after 5 seasons of a TV show that you can't follow anymore? I feel like the hate is because people want to love AC but can't keep up with all the games for whatever reason... If not... Then why hate? Don't buy it, play something else, and let me get my AC fix every year

Hah, I just re-read my comment, comes off as a bit aggressive huh? Call it an internet filtered response on my part. Truth is I am passionately interested in the Rift, and I've been reading every one of your articles with great anticipation. Hell we talk about the Rift regularly on my podcast. So my nerd rage was a

There is no doubt that the Oculus Rift VR headset, with its 3D display and tilt sensors, is designed for gaming. But that's not all it can do. There are several apps that allow you to watch movies on it as well.

Seriously! I've been following his posts, so I know he has the low-res dev model. But how is this not mentioned even once in the article?? You can bet your ass the 1080p prototype they have been showing off would make the movies crisper. Whether there are still issues remains to be seen, but this article is a bit of

Awesome! Well you've got my moral support! I'm all for the first person view games on the rift, but I don't want that to become the only format we play, so I'm super glad to hear about devs taking other, experimental approaches :)

Oh man that makes me really happy to hear. I'm actually more excited for 3PS games than FPS on the Rift. I'd rather "be the camera" with the option of looking around, or away from the character. To me I feel like that would be just as immersive into the world, I mean your field of view would still be surrounded by the

It's all fine by me, as long as it's optional, but—what do you think, would you purchase something like this? Does its existence bother you?

Double-post, nothing to see here...

I disagree. The day will come when our computing tech and skills make it possible. And some games will opt to be photorealistic and others will opt to be stylized. Depending on the genre and the goals of the designers, they will opt for one or the other. But really I see true to life looking games happen within our

This trio of videos aren't in real-time, obviously, but they do demonstrate the tools developers are using to shape the new Norrath, the same tools players will be using to shape whatever patches of land they manage to claim in Landmark.
