Hmmm, maybe we stumbled onto a correlation! I grew up poor (not in a trailer park, but in a run down apt complex that was mostly section 8) and I am absolutely STUNNED by the amount of people who would donate to their college. Maybe growing up poor has an effect on how we donate later in life?

Cool, I am pretty curious. What kind of people are donating? What is the tactic the university uses (nostalgia, I assume)? How much do the donations account for operating budgets?
Seriously, who are these people that give money to their undergrad university? I've never personally known anyone to do it, even for the tax benefit. All the rich folks I know (not a lot, but some) either donate to museums or charities.

Yeah, that is basically what happened to me. I became friends with the couple first. Then started sleeping with the girl. Stayed friends with the couple. Then started sleeping with the guy. THEN EVERYTHING SUDDENLY SUCKED.
