But what put them into that position? These are people who had a daughter and did not abort her or abandon her as soon as she was born. Then, due to Mao’s disgusting policy, a local village woman made her rounds to ensure this woman was on birth control and continued to have periods, making sure she wasn’t pregnant.

I’ve never understood a man being uncomfortable with his wife earning more than him. My husband would be thrilled! We both agree that me staying home is best (and I actually can’t even work where we currently live due to visa issues), and I enjoy being with my kids, but if I were working, there’d be no issue if I made

I’m definitely not denying that sexism put China in this position or condoning sexism because it’s a cultural aspect. To blame everyone in China (as the poster I was replying to has done) who are currently struggling as a result is what I’m saying is total bullshit. Let’s just blame every white person for the KKK

Oh, FFS... let’s have no sympathy for people who have been left to fend for themselves in old age because of an oppressive regime and thousands of years of culture...

They’re responsible for Mao’s one child policy? I’m finding it hard to see how that’s their fault. Do you know anything of the policing of women’s bodies that took place to prevent couples from having more than one child? And that is their fault?

Who do they think they are destroying ancient artefacts? ISIS?

Every 2-3 hours... and that’s if you have a baby who isn’t cluster feeding. Cluster feeding means it’s more like every hour.

It’s totally realistic for a baby to be asleep by 7.30pm... what is unrealistic, at least in our house, would be Sophia being able to unlatch the baby from her breast, put down the baby in the crib, and do actual things for herself!

Some babies eat very quickly. Even as a newborn, my son never took 30-45 minutes - more like 15-20 minutes. I was concerned he wasn’t eating enough, because my daughter took 45-60 minutes. Now, at 6 months, it takes him 10-15 minutes tops.

My first took a good hour to eat each time I fed her, which was about every 3 hours. My son eats in about 5 minutes and if he unlatches, my milk is squirting 10 feet into the air, which never happened the first time around. It just depends.

My cousin and her husband are members of a church like this - where the woman is expected to stay at home and obey her husband’s every command. They’ve been essentially black-listed, because he’s now staying at home while she works. She’s an engineer with a fantastic, well-paying job, his job wasn’t paying as much,

Exactly. I just spoke with a woman the other day in an abaya and niqab who had the most beautifully done eye makeup I’ve ever seen. She also had perfect manicured nails, a Chanel bag and some (what must have been) $1000 shoes. I can’t even imagine what kind of designer clothing she has going on under her abaya.

It’s not the men who are suffering - it’s the elderly. The one-child policy has completely destroyed the way Chinese society has functioned for thousands of years. In America, you have Social Security and nursing homes to care for the elderly, while in China, one’s children care for them. It’s been especially hard on

You think a woman so desperate to get her child a better life that she was flying to the US to give birth risked her not full-term child’s life at just 36 weeks by taking misoprostol?!?!

She probably sat there tweaking her nipples for a few hours...

How long do you think labour takes? She’d clearly been in labour for a while before getting into US airspace. She asked simply to find out whether or not what she wanted for her child was going to happen.

Taiwan is a very highly developed country with stringent drug regulations. Plus, pitocin is an IV drip. Do you think she had an IV drip going on the plane? How does one induce labour on their own, as I’m sure all women who are 40+ weeks pregnant would LOVE to know her secret?

She didn’t endanger her child. There’s absolutely no reason to expect to give birth at 36 weeks when you’re having a normal pregnancy. She also did not endanger fellow passengers in any way, besides a few bystanders possibly seeing something they don’t want to see.

The possibility of giving birth at 36 weeks isn’t highly likely at all, though.

Yes, because pitocin is available over the counter (eyeroll).
