I read the letter and that isn’t what it advocates for. What they are suggesting is managing derogatory memes that disparage fat/obese people and how these depictions are interpreted and normalized by children (develop apathy towards healthy lifestyles, engage in bullying, influence self-esteem/body image).

It’s unfortunate how the body positivity movement has shifted into this place and I’ll leave it at that (or draw a needless analogy) in that it’s kinda like in the “I don’t see color/colorblind*” community how if someone mentions race then they’re automatically racist.

The juxtaposition between science and technology is hard for many to get.
