'GLOW' just came out, but deserves to be on this list. It's wonderful, warm-hearted comfort food to go along with your latest disorienting blast of 'Twin Peaks', and it has maybe the most irresistible co-leads of any show— Alison Brie and Betty Gilpin. It even finds a way to make Marc Maron a charismatic actor!

Kang enjoys that— consistent with the '80's setting— this 'uglied-up' homewrecker version of Alison Brie reminds him so much of Shelley Long.

If it's Brie you want, get thee to Community!

As is standard for this show, Carrie Coon was a 're-mixing' of another Coen movie character, Tommy Lee Jones' sheriff from 'No Country', who ends up being a spectator/audience surrogate rather than driving the plot. Also, Nikki more or less plays a similar role to Josh Brolin's Llewellyn Moss.

Yeah, he seemed much more fresh than Bokeem Woodbine's 'hyper-literate hitman', who is such an indie crime trope at this point. A lot of it has to do with Thewlis, who was so wonderfully rumpled and seemed perpetually exhausted. It made his potency as a bad guy seem all the more sneaky and sinister.

Allison Brie 'auditioning' her character ideas to Marc Maron is worth the price of a Netflix subscription.

This is true, but it's also why some poor whites should watch 'Making a Murderer' because it might help them draw a line between themselves and the black people who are routinely mistreated and railroaded by the system

Also stuff not found on him: a shred of physical evidence

Anyone else notice how much the sooty man's odd walk contributed to his creepiness? He seemed to raise his knees up high like he was in a marching band, but methodically slow and completely silent. Something about it—brrrrrrrrr

There really can never be too much Kent. Highlight of the episode, along with the reappearance of Ben's legendary travel mug. If the Veep team is gonna be split up, there needs to be an episode that centers around Gary Cole and Kevin Dunn. They are the greatest and they're being wasted.

And hot!

Except music is steadily sneaking into the series as Coop re-enters our world, bobby sees Laura's picture, etc. Coop drinking the hot coffee and his huge smile and 'HI!' was the Lynch equivalent of a fist-pumping moment. He's doing it excruciatingly deliberately, but Lynch is definitely moving pieces into place for

Kang loves Lynch, hated 'Lost Highway', and definitely thinks 'Mulholland Drive' was essentially a remake of 'Lost Highway'. But absolutely loved 'Mulholland Drive'. Because that's how magical good filmmaking is

Season 2 of Fargo is much better than season 1, but it does feel exhausting with some of the 'indie' tropes (oh look! A hyper literate hitman!) and callbacks to the coens' filmography. If there's a Hawley show worth watching, it's definitely 'Legion', which is wonderful. The new Peaks, on the other hand, feels

You're right, it's just this show took me to a place and ignited creative fires inside Kang that he was ready to fight to the death about it after finishing episode 2. It's amazing

This is a great review and kang is so fucking mesmerized by this glorious thing that he cares not one shit if other people can't get on the wavelength. This is art

No review for Twin Peaks yet? God, AV Club is cowardly. It is so far manifestly the work of a bona fide genius and manages to be to 21st-century television what the original 'twin peaks' was to 20th-century television. But trying to put it into words is foolish and lots of people are going to hate it. But holy shit

Kang has just officially made Amanda Peet his arch-nemesis! We're finally gonna wrestle!

YOU'RE WELCOME

started this at 3 AM last night and haven't finished it, but by god (a Normism!) this thing made Kang laugh SO fucking hard, so many times in just the first 20 minutes. He isn't a cultural touchstone like Chapelle or C.K., but his new special beats theirs in one key respect—- IT'S FUNNIER
