The farmhouse scene seemed like it was trying to function like the 'chocolate cake' scene from Spider-Man 2. Except where the 'chocolate cake' scene was one of the most efficient and magical moments of non-punching to ever grace a superhero movie, the farmhouse segment was a bloated and mildly tedious retread of

What about his side gig as Iggy Pop?

Am I wrong, or does VEEP sport the sexiest ensemble comedy cast since NewsRadio?

'Julia Louis Dreyfus tops herself every week'

A lot of people seem to echo this logic, but still— These guys got their wieners cut off as children so they could be more focused as fighters. They've spent as much time fighting as I've spent masturbating.

That did seem a little iffy. Looks like Dany got punk'd and someone switched out the Unsullied for Imperial Stormtroopers.

No mention of Jaime catching the sword with his metal hand? That, youngsters, was what we used to call a GOT 'fuck yeah!' moment. Haven't seen many of those since Dany lit up that slaver in season 3…

That's precisely what made it work— Stannis does seem to feel real affection, but the only way he can express it is if it's cloaked it in his rigid code of noble entitlement. Wonderful acting by Dillane.

Someone better clear out before they get wedgied. Seriously.

Stranger than Fiction really is the most under-recognized romantic magic realist comedy of the least twenty years— the kind of movie that anyone with a soft spot for LA Story should definitely see. Emma Thompson is flawless, Dustin Hoffmann is a genius at comic understatement, Ferrell is a generous and capable

Whoah, I just clicked on an article to get a better look at a 36-year old photograph of a smoking hot girl. Wowza. Where was I when they were handing out time-traveling companions?? Set coordinates to 1979!

'What flavor is this?'

I still love the first movie, and don't HATE this one, but it has a lot of easily fixed flaws. It's really not a close comparison, though. People who rate this close to the first movie have fuzzy memories, because 'Avengers' was MUCH better written and directed. It wasn't just the novelty— every facet of it was

The more I think about this movie, the more I'm exasperated by how sloppy the writing was. Think, for example, about Bruce's pain at his inability to lead a normal life and have a family. In Avengers 1, he simply says to Romanoff 'Well, we don't every time get what we want' and idly swings the bassinet next to him.

They really dropped the ball on Hulk. I would have preferred he only appear in ONE scene in the whole movie, if they could conserve time and resources to really bring him to life. Instead we got a lot of cartoony CGI, and he felt much less fully realized than in the first 'Avengers'.

I was perplexed at how two people who hadn't even consummated a relationship started talking about the (im)possibility of having children (why does either one assume the other wants children???)

It was worth a watch. I loved Avengers, Winter Soldier, and Guardians, but this film felt like Joss Whedon attempting to please too many masters. SPOILERS BELOW

Father!

Wow, Teti— 'eye for an eye', dying vis-a-vis 'losing their lease at Time/Life'…. When you're not being hysterically funny on Block & Tackle, I guess you spend the off-season schooling the shit out of all the other writers on this site? You magnificent bastard. Well done.
