And even beyond having their OWN capital, they by far and away have the best access to venture capital. And VCs like to invest in people who look like them, so....
I think that’s from the New Testament, no? The Ten Commandments are likely to be more relevant to an Orthodox Jew, I think.
I sat in a restaurant once where a couple ignored their three kids (ages ~6-10) running through the place hitting things and people. I finally snapped at their kid (age 7?) when he started grabbing cutlery and weaving it through the back of my chair and snagged/tore my clothes. My snap? “STOP THAT.” His mom’s comment…
WTAF? This is identical branding to some GLBT-friendly stores that TELUS opened up in Vancouver. It’s even the same font.
What about calling your partner your pet’s name? I mean, the pet doesn’t mind, but...
It happened to me once.
I would think that the number of people who’d be likely to tweet #bitchimmaadonna would be pretty low!
My in-laws do a “yay!” and get everyone to start clapping like it’s a grand performance. Then everyone laughs and is happy. (Obviously if there’s a real issue the kid starts crying instantly - this is about the ones where they look at you, like the title says). This works well, but I worry we’re just raising a bunch…
“Well, animals are a lot like people, Mrs. Simpson. Some of them act badly because they’ve had a hard life or have been mistreated. But, like people, some of them are just jerks.
He didn't say "I apologize _IF_ anyone was offended". That's the fauxpology/nopology tactic. It avoids actually acknowledging wrong/harm. He takes responsibility for the fact that he DID offend people and apologized TO those people.

To be fair, we Canucks are a bit screwed on the metric/imperial front. I measure horizontal distances in metric (km, m, cm) but vertical ones in imperial (I'm 5'4"). My apartment is measured in sqft and my ceilings in ft. I know my weight in lbs but not kg, but I expect to buy all my groceries in grams/kg (That said,…
But... what's the alternative for them at this point? Just write the kids off as broken forever & keep going? No, it would have been better for things to not get to this but they have at least realized it now & are working on addressing it.
I dunno. If the chef said "my staff"? Is that something a non-eponymous head chef says about the front-of-house staff? Based on what else we've heard about how awesome Jean-Georges is, I prefer to believe that it was him (might have been working there for a menu change - I've seen that at high-end restaurants (chef…
