I wish I trusted you guys to adhere to those rules. But I don’t, because most of the Oathkeepers I’ve met are just looking for an excuse to carry openly because they like the feeling of power they get from it.

Again, I've clarified this point multiple times. I don't have time to keep repeating myself.

Nearly all Tom Clancy stories are propaganda to some point, whether that was his intention or not.

I can't tell what comment you're replying to. Suffice to say, I've already clarified that point elsewhere.

Yes, I've played a few hours. Also, you appear to have missed my overall point. Read the rest of the thread if you're interested. I've got too many replies to keep repeating myself.

Not the point. I addressed this elsewhere in the thread.

It’s less about “poor” and more about “disenfranchised.” This is a game where the well-regulated militia (because that’s what the Division is, really) kills a woman who sounds a lot like a BLM protester because she turns out to be a Jokeresque psychopath. And convicted criminals are portrayed as ravenous animals, with

No problem. Thanks for keeping it civil. Not everyone seems to be able to do so.

I'm not repeating myself. I've addressed your point multiple times in other replies in this thread. Read on if you're interested.

That's not the point. Read the rest of the thread; I've addressed this issue.

It's Tom Clancy is what it is. All his narratives are jingoistic propaganda.

This game purports to be set in a realistic setting, so your point doesn't apply here. It's attempting to be serious and to be taken seriously in terms of narrative, and so that's what I'm doing.

This is such an incredibly stupid comment that I've decided I'm just going to dismiss your comments from here on out. You clearly aren't interested in a real discussion.

When it addresses the issues of society it becomes social commentary whether it chooses to be so or not.

You say "the idea of mental illness" like that means something. What mental illness does the Joker have? I've always thought the evil of the Joker was that he was perfectly sane, but still loved being an agent of total chaos.

You've completely missed my point. I'm not repeating it again. Read the rest of the thread if you're interested.

Bullshit. The gaming community doesn’t get to say games are as much an important artform as movies, then pull the “it’s just a game” crap when they get criticized for the stories they tell. That’s having it both ways, and it makes you a hypocrite. This game clearly purports to be set in a realistic setting, then

The Joker is not based on any real-world person or issue. The black protester they made to act like the Joker in this game is.

No, the narrative is what it is. And what it is, is a right-wing piece of propaganda, because it presupposes the righteousness of a right-wing viewpoint in its narrative.

See, that’s exactly the problem, you see this as propaganda, I see it as speculative fiction.
