If they paint themselves to look black? Yeah. I know it doesn't seem fair, but neither is the systematic oppression of an entire race of people for hundreds of years. Unfortunately that's the world we live in, and the historical context at play here.

I think it has more to do with the amateur nature of the costume. You can have someone do the makeup, and someone do the clothes, and someone else be the model, and someone take the pictures. The point is that you're not getting some professional movie makeup artist or costume designer to do the work.

The standard of trustworthiness? I agree, we never have held politicians to that standard before. Seems like a good time to start, though.

Should she have to? No. If she doesn’t, though, it’s just one more reason in a long list of reasons not to trust her. If she doesn’t release them, that means whatever is in them is more damning than the appearance of being opaque and untrustworthy, which says all you need to know.

I like Samantha Bee, and I hope this show works out for her, but I didn’t think this episode was nearly as funny as the reception it’s getting would lead you to believe. That said, Wilmore's show was pretty awful for the first couple of weeks, but it's really found its footing now, so here's hoping Bee does the same.
