It wasn’t in the emails. Cho was very polite in the emails. And then she went behind Swinton’s back and trashed her. That “I have an Asian friend” thing was especially obnoxious because she was completely lying about the context of that.

Shouldn’t people generally be informed before they enter any debate? It’s not that some random white person wanted to ask her about it. Cho stepped into a debate not knowing what she was talking about. Frankly, the original character is an Asian stereotype. Had they not changed the character, I guarantee there would…
Thankfully, it looks like a lot of people did. I’m not seeing a lot of defense of Cho here. A little, but not much.
But Cho lied about what Swinton said. She said Swinton used the “I have a black friend defense.” It’s clear from the emails that Cho suggested Swinton should work on projects that give Asian Americans roles, and in response to that Swinton said she was working with Steven Yeun. That’s really dishonest.
I don’t think much of Eric or Donald Jr. For that matter, I share your skepticism about Ivanka. My point is only that they are better than he is, and he listens to them. I think listening to them would lead him to better choices than following his own gut.
Sadly, we elected someone who doesn’t know anything. I’ll give his children enough credit that I think they are smarter than him. If they can get through to him, I’d rather have them trying to convince him of things than just have him doing whatever he thought was best.
This! The funny thing is, I actually want the three oldest children to straight up work in the White House. Not because I like them. I don’t. But it does seem like they are the only ones Trump actually listens to and they are at least more rational than he is. I’d like them to even have clearance for classified…
And the sad thing is, I’ve seen a lot of conservatives defending this as a smarter system. Supposedly it safeguards the rights of people in rural areas. It doesn’t. It gives them more power than people in cities. That’s not democratic. It’s also not how the system is even supposed to work. It is supposed to follow the…
But he’s as old as Bernie now. Some people want Bernie to run again in 2020, and the response is always “he’ll be 78" and that’s the end of that. They pushed the limit this time. Actually, I think if Hillary hadn’t been the Democratic nominee, this would have come up more. Trump is the oldest first term president, and…
The Man in the High Castle is another example. Definitely some known actors, but no big stars. I would say Stranger Things fits your theory, too. Winona Ryder is certainly super famous, but her career kind of stalled more than a decade ago. This was more of a comeback for her, and she is the most known person in an…
Naw. They said it on TV!
It is bizarre to me how much I’m rooting for Romney to be Secretary of State, considering how much I was against the idea of him becoming president four years ago. This is how quickly the GOP slides. It seemed liked Bush was bad, and then the Tea Party comes along, and Bush was comparatively sane and intelligent. Now,…
The fact that we don’t know on most of these is very stressful. It seems like for every position we hear about there’s one or two crazy people and one or two establishment types who would be bad, but not catastrophic. Is it going to be the comparatively sane Romney or the batshit crazy Giuliani? It’s two bad choices,…
That’s true of all this extreme pro-life stuff, though. All those personhood amendments never take into account the fact that most fertilized eggs never actually become a baby. The logic never holds up.
Agreed, though I would love to sit in on that training.
I feel like bigot is the most accurate term, because it encompases all types of bigotry. Racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, you name it. However, I don’t think bigot has quite as much emotional power as the term “racist.” It seems like some people use it as the slightly friendlier term. Like, “Oh, he’s a bit of a…
I’ve never cared for him, but I agree with you completely. It’s been clear for quite some time that there is something really wrong. Some have continued to use that for cheap laughs, and that’s kind of disgusting.
