I think it depends what organization you’re buying from, and it sounds like the one you work for is on the good end but that doesn’t mean there aren’t total scams out there too so I wouldn’t say he’s wrong/misinformed, but you’re both generalizing the entire industry just in opposite directions.

Your next new car will be more expensive, that’s almost a given, but it won’t only be because of labor

I’m admittedly not an expert in this specific area, but clicking through your link and some of the cited links within it, all I saw was reference to requiring manufacturers to be transparent about whether a warranty is transferable but I’m not seeing anything mandating that it be transferable

On what grounds does this feel even remotely illegal?

Except they’re not disallowing you from doing anything you are still perfectly within your right to do whatever you want with the car. This clause is just saying the manufacturers commitment to provide warranty service is subject to your commitment keeping it.

Except you’re assuming this is some secret between the owner and GM.

Is that really so crazy though? $1,500 per month to own a ~150K car doesn’t seem so outlandish

I think you underestimate how many people overextend themselves with these kind of cars. Sure a lot of buyers probably come in and pay for their audi with a personal check that doesn’t cause a noticeable difference in their balance.

Could have saved us 16 pages of clicking and just said “Luxury cars that don’t quite cross the ‘exotic’ threshold depreciate a lot”

100%. I’m always astounded how it seems like anyone who has played with the online build and price will know more than 90% of dealer sales people.

But for electric vehicles, “it was usually four visits, an hour each, before they would buy the EV,” Smith said. Customers want to make sure they understand the technology, how to charge it and more. “So I’m volunteering to take a 75 percent pay cut — and no salesman wants to do that.”

Come on guys, CLEARLY his reason for selling is he wants to be a law abiding citizen and therefor needs to ditch this illegal truck and wanted to be a respectable seller and disclose the unfortunate tune and delete so that the potential buyer is fully aware of the work needed to make this truck legal after purchase :)

Whoever looked at these results and called Atlanta “worst” is apparently some psycho who prefers having to circle around for 45 minutes just to find a $10 per hour parking meter that probably has a 90 minute limit.

That how I interpreted the quote in question. I didn’t read it as suggesting some sort of technology malfunction, but rather suggesting the car is super high performance and the driver wasn’t equipped to handle it.

What is with Jalopnik’s apparent obsession with needing to report on every single possible flip attempt? I get it, we don’t like flippers, but this is a news site, do we really need a dedicated article every time a single person tries to flip a single car?

In elementary school, my friend’s dad had a brand new S2K. Hey filled up with gas, then flipped around to the car wash, one much like the lead image of this article.

As a finance professor used to say “it doesn’t always matter how ‘right’ your investment decisions are because often times the market can remain illogical longer than you can remain solvent”
