Not denying anything you’re saying, nor do I think the end of OWL will be the end of attempts to make esports resemble traditional sports. And yeah, I’m mostly pinning the blame on Blizz for this one. (I think this season might have even survived the pandemic had they not low-balled all their talent and implemented

Seconded - the homestands were the one thing that felt fresh and exciting. Between that and Contenders, there was an actual system meant to sustain interest and generate new talent over the long term. The traditional sports model could have worked, but it was undermined by a series of poor decisions and bad luck. This

I went through the same thing - played Hotel Dusk, loved it, heard about Last Window, shelled out a pretty penny to import a used EU version, and loved it even more. Hotel Dusk really had those “oh, snap” moments, but I think Last Window felt more introspective. Kyle is such an interesting and likeable character, I

I am absolutely stoked for CrossCode on the Switch because I really feel like that game flew under the radar and I hope it gets a second round of press attention when it gets released on the Switch.

What makes for a good fighting game world tour? Well, looking at the three examples above, it’s pretty clear: working with the competitive community and addressing their concerns, first and foremost.

Watched GimR’s video yesterday and was fascinated by the potential. Reminds me of buffering Shulk’s Monado Arts. Demands precision beyond anything I’ll ever be capable of, but I’m excited to see what high-level players do with it.

Been waiting so long for Psycho-Pass 3... hope it’s good.

No wonder why JUICE turned out to be a shitposter in 17776....

What a goddamned mood.

Bastion is crazy viable right now because of the meta... First you have Orisa and Sigma with their double barrier madness, then you have short-range burst DPS like Doomfist and Reaper. Very good at controlling an area and punishing aggression.

Hey, the original version of this was made for this year’s GMTK game jam! The theme of the jam was “only one,” which might have something to do with the whole premise of the game. ;)

Don’t forget Mark Brown’s excellent video on how to get started!

Shibuya Scramble is one of those games that really should have been noticed more than it was. It was originally released 11 years ago on the Wii(!), but wasn’t released internationally or on PC until last year.

You might really appreciate this fan-made map for osu! then:

Don’t need to click that link to know what’s up.

Yeah, my mom watches some of the matches with me, and the first thing I told her to pay attention to was the kill feed. She’s gotten good at that, and she’s just starting to pick up on the ultimate economy now. There’s also some short videos up on the OWL website that break down the game, define terms, or explore
