Why does it matter what sexuality a video game character is?

Really - I didn’t feel like they had any “life” to them beyond any other MP games characters. They tend to have a pretty cool art style. But really they are skillset defined by their appearance. want a different appearance - you get a different skill set in game.

It’s fairly obvious of this being a PR move. Corporations have to follow the latest social trends or narratives to continuously profit from. As much as representation matters, this is Acti-Bliz we’re talking about. So yes, it is quite smelly with insincerity, especially when it comes to this game.

Yay??

Doesn’t the OW dev team have a diversity chart that makes this feel a little bit insincere?

That is certainly an opinion, but it might change had you actually played his games. Regardless of his methodology and justification for some out-there ideas, his titles are technical marvels and quite ground breaking for the medium. I’m not defending the man, but to put down the games, their footprint on the industry

You certainly managed to draw a lot of conclusions about games that are 100+ hours long without actually playing them, based entirely on very small amounts of information. Clearly, we have found our new authority on the subject.

I got laid off from my industry job earlier this year after 7 years of record profits.  I was producer on one of the biggest games of the year and they stripped my name from the credits after letting my entire team go. There is no amount of money or success that will satisfy the ghouls that run these companies.

Bungie isn’t the “good guy” studio everyone thinks it is. So long as they have been working on Destiny they have been mildly shitty.

It IS “Classic”!

The plant I work for just celebrated a record setting first half of a year.

This fucking sucks, it feels as it does not matter if its the best selling game of all time, they just want to spend as little money as possible.

The problem is two-fold:

If what another posted said is true, that the XIM design uses a native controller anyways, then this will do nothing to stop its proliferation.

It has always been just a license.

When Microsoft debued the Always Online Xbox one, and thr backlash made them walk it back, I hope everyone realized that was only a temporary victory. Out consoles *WILL* be always online mandated, it’s just a matter of when. Hell, our PCs basically are right now. The number of games you can install to your drive and a

Or...people who realize the only way ActiBlizz will regain the shine of old is to have new ownership.  Former Blizzard employee here.

It’s not the old console games I’m worried about - look at the always online games. Once they’re dropped they’re gone. Not hard to access, or requiring an emulator - just straight up no longer extant. You can’t play Battleborn or Marvel Heroes anymore, not even on private servers.

Seconded, AAA games have long been in the mindset of bigger games, bigger budgets, bigger payout...but it’s been killing the diversity of the market...most of these massive publishers will be lucky to put out 4 games in a year now instead of EA and Activision during the PS2 / Gamecube / Xbox era where both were

“If we continue to coalesce around the four or five genres, then we won’t get the new players because those people have already said we’re not interested in your genres,” Layden said. “Don’t kid yourself that someone who’s said ‘no’ to Call of Duty for the last 15 years is going to start suddenly saying ‘yes’ to Call
