You can’t believe it because you’re privileged enough not to have to deal with the actual issues that the people who are made to wear these sorts of uniforms in real life have to deal with, and you’re also not empathetic enough to understand the perspective of another fellow human being, and how such a thing might

i’m about to block you but i gather you missed this one lol

No one:

Trying to justify it by saying these are “industry-standard established ranges based on experience” is especially fucked-up, given the strength of their resumes. He had one movie screenwriting credit and one “story by” credit prior to Crazy Rich Asians. She’d been writing for television for two decades. It’s a flimsy

I didn’t think that the discussion about sexualisation in video game was about womens self image. I don’t know any woman who likes video games who longs for looking like a pre-teen looking dragon girl who is secretly 1000 years old or having breasts so big that they take up the vast majority of their body.

I thought it

Sure, but I’m pretty sure the point they’re trying to make is that the wishlist has historically increased sales (because even if people don’t necessarily plan on buying the game but are just keeping an eye on it, being on the wishlist does mean it gets in front of potential buyers more often which increases the odds

I literally mention this game in the article.....

Coming back to this in the morning and seeing a lot of “Heather, leave this this to us hardcore gamers if you can’t beat it.” or whatever and I just gotta... like... remind folks who I am and what I do for a living:

Add an easy mode and he won’t have to settle for watching someone else have fun, friendo. And the good news is that you don’t lose anything in the process either.

That *is* harsh though because you’re all but asking players with disabilities to go elsewhere. In this example, an easy mode or even a series of toggles that allow players to customize game experiences is about allowing them to participate in that experience. It’s inclusive, and not in the dime-store way that word is

Hey, that’s because our sister site io9 was doing an excellent (and now published) report of their own.

They did. It was called Alien: Isolation.

Disappointing but I guess they can’t put the genie back in the bottle now. Doing it out of necessity makes a kind of sense but like, you can also totally play Alexios/Kassandra as someone who doesn’t give a shit about their Spartan duty and is just along for the ride, the sarcastic joker. So why would that necessarily

This response I actually like and respect because you took time to actually elaborate rather than short, lower case, dismissive responses.

responding to you repeatedly trying to own me has taken time out of my day that could otherwise be spent working. i cannot, and will not in future, take the time to personally explain to each and every person the things i literally already wrote in my review, which you read. i will respond to one more thing, though.

You’re free to like a thing I dislike. That’s fine. What’s weird is your insistence is that I don’t “get” it, which probably makes you feel better about liking something I dislike. Cool stealth edit on your original comment to accuse me of elitism, by the way!

What a great article about how someone can have a variety of complex, nuanced—and, most importantly—evolving viewpoints about not just a divisive topic, but all the sexist/misogynistic baggage around that character. Thank you for writing this.

Pirate it. Don’t give these crooks one more cent. Any money this game makes will only be going to the people that killed the company, not the hard working people that actually made the games.

Whats allowed in ANY% gets defined by the community for each game, if they want to define it as including a specific mod so that they don’t have to deal with 98% of runs being FUBAR’d by an item drop they I see no reason why they shouldn’t.
