Yeah, but this is Google, who has become infamous for taking steps in a new direction, promising the moon and then quietly killing said project when they don’t win right away.

or the content is never removed...

Relatively speaking, the number of people who live in an area that provides Google Fiber is really small (and won’t be getting any bigger considering they effectively scrapped expansion plans years ago).

Yup, I imagine my Comcast dl speed (150 Mbps) would be enough to make this feasible, but the data cap issue likely makes it a non-starter.

How will this work when I have piss poor internet?

Well, it matters a little in the sense that, you can theoretically deal with the odd framerate issue or some latency in The Sims. Not gonna work if you’re trying to play anything remotely competitive.

I think the pessimism is largely warranted, in the sense that your experience is not going to be everyone else’s experience. For some it’s going to work great; others, not so much. Which side will be the majority? Who knows?

tl;dr - this seems as though it could work for a select audience: occasional gamers, with fast enough internet, who aren’t bothered by what will almost assuredly be lower-quality graphics/performance

If you don’t have access to consistent high speed internet (being just able to stream 1080 video is not nearly enough) you can’t really use this service. To do so you’d have to move, which depending on where you live and situation, might require buying a house.

Seeing a lot of absolutes on both sides in the comments here (e.g., gamers are entitled assholes”, or “devs ripped me off with a broken game and can eat shit”).

It’s times like these when I tend to just lose all faith in humanity in general.

Yeah, I mean, maybe don’t let men who beat their pregnant wives work for your company in the first place. That would be a start.

Man, I understand it’s a cultural difference, and that should probably be respected, but it’s hard for me to even fathom such strict punishment for something that often isn’t directly harming anyone at all (other than perhaps the user).

Gregory, 86, and Marcia Abbott, 59,

some things we said become not true, not because someone was dishonest but because it changed over the course of development”

He just announced he’s extremely likely to die soon to the whole world in the same manner and tone of voice that I would use to tell my boss I’ll have the TPS reports done by end of day Friday.

Shadow of War is not on Game Pass. Shadow of Mordor - the first game - is.

Barstool and Deadspin write shit about each other so much, I’m halfway convinced there’s an behind-the-scenes “wink wink, nod nod” agreement to sling mud and generate clicks for both sites.

It should be removed simply for having such a terribly uncreative name.
