Those aren’t manufactuer’s plates. They’re dealer plates. If the Lane does buying and selling of weird cars, that’s how they have them.
That’s the way cars have been since at least the early 50's. For example, to lock my ‘53 Buick, or any (American) car, you had to push all the lock buttons inside down, then hold the outside door handle button in to lock it. It’s only been since central locking and remotes have been around that didn’t have to do that.
Since Ford wouldn’t let him use “E” for the Model 3, I really doubt they would let him use Fairlane or Galaxie (assuming Ford still owns the copyright to them).
