They were still headed almost straight up at the top of the picture.  What makes you think it topped out there?  Jeeze!

Then you’re blind.

Calm down there, Phil.  That’s exactly the point I was making with that picture to the guy who didn’t even think it qualified as a cliff.

You tell me?

LOL!  Yeah, I ran into that also during my Google searches.

You’re very close. My research shows it to be a very, very early styling clay for the European Ford Capri project, which was called the “Colt” in it’s early stages.

I see where the early European Ford Capri project was called Colt, and used a V-4. Could this be one of the early styling clays for the Capri? Here’s a page from which the following quote is from.  Look for the “related research” area, paragraph 19.

I do that with the toaster when I make all my sandwiches. Put two slices of bread in one of the slots. You get one side toasted, the other side soft and warm. Whether the toasted side goes inside or outside is up to you (mine goes on the outside). I’ll have to try that in the pan next time.

True, but hot rodders loved them because it allowed them to put much wider tires on the back without worrying about rubbing on the fenders.

Exner did a number of these revival cars in the 60's. Some were made into real cars, most made it to the scale model stage. I remember I had a 1:25 scale slot car version of that Mercer-Cobra.

One of these days UPS, USPS, FedEx, etc. will all band together and all use the same truck to take advantage of the economies of scale.

Here’s one way to keep your canine cool....

On a couple of the shows I’ve watched on White House security (“Secrets of the Secret Service”, etc.), they specifically mention that Secret Service dogs at the gates have special refrigerated pads to stand on to protect their feet in the summer.

Why stop at just 4dr Beetle sedans?

If you’re going to be grilling meat and drinking beer, do it in something other than a Toronado. How about an old Ford?

Authorities called in area beekeepers to help corral the bees and redirect them to new sites; several first responders were reportedly stung in the process.

I remember the the very first time I saw that picture back in the day. It was probably in C&D but I don’t remember for sure. All I know is that I was around 15 at the time and I’ve never forgotten it.

I’ve often thought that every ballot should have a “none of the above” option for each race. If that option comes out on top, none of the candidates are what the people want. We need to vote for who we want in office, not for the lesser of two evils.

No problem, my friend. It just gave me the excuse I needed to post that picture in here for, ummm, educational purposes.

The article is about the 1979 race, but the picture (oh, that picture!!) IN the article shows her and her team in the 1972 race.  I don’t think there is any mention of them in the 1979 account.
