There’s a big difference between US sales and ROTW (rest of the world) sales. In many areas of the world, you don’t want to appear rich. That’s where the VW Phaeton comes in. It was a bust in the US because buyers here want to look rich, and it’s hard to look rich and impress other Americans while driving a

I agree, but with me, the Batmobile might be the exception to that, but that was already mostly done by Ford. There is also a question of how much of that he actually did himself (as with most Barris creations).

That’s funny. I thought it read:

Am I the only one here that buys a car only to impress myself and not others?

Definitely NOT the Phaeton. That car was specifically designed for people who wanted the luxury of a Bentley, but did NOT want to appear rich (an issue in much of eastern and western Europe).

Until the credits rolled, I thought she was going to be another Stig-type character. One who’s helmet never came off, but one who’s visor was up so you could see her eyes. I could totally see fans trying to match up the sliver of face and her eyes with known drivers in an attempt to identify her (and generate buzz

If you really want to have your car lovin’ heart broken, try to make it through this video of the final demise of the Chrysler Turbine cars. I don’t think I’ve ever made it through the entire video. What a monumental waste. Be sure to have a box of Kleenex handy.

Once cars go autonomous with v2v communications, we won’t need any stinking lights.

You can’t do any of that because then you would have PETA on your ass. You could use fat guys if you don’t mind flack from Weight Watchers.

There’s always the Model X.

I love wagons, and I love Teslas, but that doesn’t ring my bell at all. I would prefer something like this.....

Yes, but then all you would have is a Toyota with a Taro grill (and tailgate, steering wheel, etc). Not a genuine VW Taro pickup. BTW, from what I’ve read, it was ONLY available with a 5-sp manual. No automatic.

You can always bring a VW Taro to the US. The early ones pass the age test. A VW pickup with Toyota reliability. Who could ask for anything more?

Best. Car. Commercial. Ever.

I think driving angry is why he “need(s) 1 more car”.

I tried to wrap my Golf awhile back. I don’t think it turned out too bad considering it was a first effort.

As a former last-gen Caprice wagon (being transformed into an Impala SS wagon) owner, I can wholeheartedly recommend trying to find a nice used mid 90's Impala SS. I think that would tick all your boxes.

Yep. That’s what I was getting at. Most of the time when I hear “hook up a simple kill switch”, they’re referring to a battery cutoff switch under the hood. The smart way is what you suggested.

Where are you going to mount that kill switch? At the battery? Good luck when you lose every preset in your car including the clock and the radio, not to mention the ECU.
