“...even as Donald Trump prepares to hold a massive rally near the site of the historic killings and nationwide protests continue...”
In nearly every item of the list, it’s economic status driving the behavior, not race. The author seems to want to stir the pot of “racism”. Certainly in fashion these days.
There sure are a lot of “non-violent” crimes out there that are pretty bad. Like kidnapping, robbing your house, setting your car on fire, threatening to rape your wife or daughter, stalking, yelling racial insults at people.
Simply allowing police departments to terminate officers for poor or inappropriate behavior would help avoid many (many) problems. Like school teachers (and most public service workers), it is nearly impossible to fire/demote a police officer for bad behavior. It has to be REALLY bad, like the recent event, to support…
If you are a white male, then take a trip to Hawaii some day. You will feel the full brunt of what racism feels like doing simple things as walking down the street, going to a “locals” restaurant or beach, or interacting with police. It’s brutal, every hour of every day.
Ouch - using an analogy that, simply put, casts black people as being like a “cancer”. How do people get away with this crap?
So I also see that if you try to correct the data for population, region, multi-race, etc., you can finally manipulate the numbers to reach the conclusion that people wanted to see all along.
“...in the United States, black people are 2.5 times more likely to be killed by police than white people.”
I only have one point of reference - in a prior election I voted via mail-in absentee voting. I live in a liberal CA city/county, and I voted for the Republican candidates.
Hang ‘em high, just as you should do for any killer(s) who kill another human being without cause..
“Is it even morally appropriate to seek happiness...when there is so much suffering in the world over these dire circumstances”.
So I guess Obama was far more competent? His response to H1N1...which infected 60 million and killed 12,000 people...was a success?
Remember that taxing “Wall Street Speculation” hits every participant in a public and private employee pension plan, and anyone who participates in a 401k, 529, and/or IRA...basically every retirement fund that exists, since contributions into those plans are invested in stocks, bonds, and derivatives.
Wait what - I thought the woke/climate change/turtle lovers DESPISED straws, so much so that they convinced CA law makers to BAN (plastic) straws. And yet now, because straw can hold your nuggets, they are celebrated.
Reduce the ability to fund the ridiculous tuition costs, and colleges will eventually have to drop their price tag. Unfortunately some colleges are so wealthy, it will take decades for them to react.
I’d suggest costs are out of whack because of a patient’s ability to sue for any & all malpractice, be it deliberate, accidental, unrelated, etc.. It is just too easy to find 12 people will to render a judgement that will transfer wealth from an insurance company to a patient (and their lawyer!).
Worth noting within these systems is that the government is making decisions about the care you receive. Policies are drafted that say people over XX years of age don’t get a hip replacement, nor heart surgery, etc.. The bureaucrats in government will decide what you get, and when you will get it.
There is just one reason US healthcare is so costly - you can sue if something goes wrong. No other country in the world allows this to happen.
I hope they get into Bernie’s “gulag” and “education camp” proposals. And that he will burn cities to the ground if he doesn’t win. THAT is news!
Meanwhile there is this going on:
