YES! So many good sedans with nice sized trunks only to be handicapped by having two huge bars that smash whatever you have in there. Wish there was an aftermarket fix somehow. ~ Passat owner and former Accord owner

Agree.

1000% yes.  This is the correct answer.  I’d give you a gazillion stars if I could.

Fun article! I (maybe unpopular) actually liked clicking through the slideshow thingy. Fun to guess what is coming next. And, yes, ‘09+ CTS-V needs to be on this list. My irresponsible side really wants to snag one of those.  Curious, do you think these have been less abused than some of the other cars on this list?

Assuming this will be a BMW motor too?  (boo)

COTD!

Amazing, Congrats! I’m not much of a reader (except Jalop and Motor Trend), but this was riveting!  Truly the written equivalent of Roadkill.

You are 100% correct. Owned a Mazda RX-8 and the lack of torque drove me nuts. I know that’s a part of the rotary beast and all, but beating the hell out of it just to keep up with traffic got old. And 18 mpg on premium to just keep up with traffic got old. My GTO was more fun shifting at 2250 rpm each shift and still

Just by a ‘15 Passat MT like I did!  They are a bit hard to find, but I’m sure you will come out ahead financially after the buyback.

Agreed Keith. I wonder that on Catalytic converters and other emissions components in general at times.

‘15 Passat TDI manual checking in.  42 mpg average in a large comfy car is awesome.  The warranty is the real icing on the cake.  I’m also betting these won’t depreciate much, especially since you can’t get them new.  Even at 12-14k, its a lot of car (and warranty) for the money.

If you are thinking of just two row options, take a look at a ‘12+ Passat before getting the CUV. As a young (6'4) dad, it has a massive back seat (car seat fits behind me with inches to spare), large trunk and you get to keep car driving dynamics, and I get the perk of a manual trans and an average 43 diesel smiles

Thank you for adding stock to my philosophy that my 1450 pound Exocet is about as fun as you can have on four wheels (cheaply).

My parents own a ‘15 JGC and I actually find the shifter much more easy and intuitive than the video shows. It’s for sure different, but it didn’t take long for my 70-year-old parents and me to get used to it. You can also shift between gears quicker, much less deliberately than it shows.

Maybe 2013+ Nissan Pathfinder

Hahaha - I drive on IL-111 every day. Only a couple spots straight and flat enough to pull that off. Not that it makes a big difference, but the same road would likely be 60 or 65 mph in most states. And 70 in Texas.

The correct answer... Chevy SS. Though not a coupe, it is plenty sporty, understated, and with magnetic ride, a great cruiser (or so I read). Bonus points for getting the 6-speed!

Hahaha - that commercial is hilarious! Leave it to the Aussies...

Came here for this. You could also mention averaging 27 mpg on regular gas. Best overall car (out of 8) I have ever owned.

Strange as it is to say...
