How about telling the shop you're buying the computer from to reinstall windows and continue to honor the warranty. After all, you should not have to pay for something and then work for hours to make it what you really wanted. Put the burden on the retail establishment where it belongs. Or, go to a different store -

This is one of my favorite scenes from that show.

Oh, now I'm going to have to go find some anxiety meds to take.

Ha, well, I think Image Capture is just one of those little hidden gems that most people don't bother with!

Image Capture is one of the OS X's best kept secrets. I use it all the time, but when I suggest using it to my Mac-using friends, almost non of them have any idea it exists. Do people regularly purchase computers without going through the installed apps!? Craziness.

I'd comment, but this is a family-friendly blog ;-)

Addendum: The study didn't include online-only banks like Ally or Simple, which tend to have no fees.

Is that an ironic mustache or not? (Or are they all ironic at this point?) I can't take that guy seriously.

Getting to the airport early, bringing a book (or better, magazine that can be read and tossed) and some Jack Daniels's all help tremendously.

Mulder and Scully?

Call me crazy, but I use my work email for work, and my personal email for all other things, like communicating with family and friends and making travel plans.

Simplistic and wrong. Prospective employers will notice a gap, so explain it. There are still a very small number of companies that want workaholics, but fewer everyday. Explain the gap, keep your skills current, maintain your network, and sell yourself effectively and you will secure employment.

We need to create a demand for the type of company cultures we desire rather than continually placating to them at the expense of ourselves. Jobs should be worked to help create opportunities for an individual to live their lives, not the other way around.

I completely disagree with the idea that this article puts forth. If you need/want to take time of from your career, DO IT!!! Any company that does not understand the need to take some personal time to regroup is not the type of company that you should work for. Now if you are going to take a year or more off then

I'm a beer drinking American and sometimes put a lime in my beer, and not just Mexican beers. Nothing wrong with adding some citrus flavor to a lighter beer. I wouldn't do this with a stout or a porter, but a pale ale or an American lager needs an occassional kick of flavor.

How about just, you know, waiting? Looking around and experiencing the world you inhabit? Not every single second of the day needs to be crammed full of stimulus and productivity.

The issue with both debit/credit cards is they remove the "pain" of spending. Pain is a good thing to have, when you want to save money and keep to a budget. If you track a budget and your spending, then the debit card would be your best option of the two to avoid fees and debt.

While I prefer Credit over Debit 95% of the time. No one has said a real benefit of Debit over Credit. No allowed minimum charges. Go to a bar and get a beer and put it on Debit (assuming they allow debit). Credit cards can have a minimum charge according to the Durbin Amendment to the Dodd–Frank Wall Street Reform

I'll give you a reason: the recent Target hacking. That was in-store, not online, and some people got their bank accounts cleared out as a result of using their debit cards. The protection of credit cards is useful in more than just "distance buying."
