Awww, I totally get that. Is he well enough that he could care for a dog (and would you or other family members be willing to take the dog in if he did outlive it)? If so, maybe he could adopt a senior one from a rescue - rescues/shelters often have a hard time placing older dogs. Otherwise, volunteering at a

Yup - and Lewy Body Disease/Dementia is spelled correctly in the actual essay, which is linked in Dirt Bag above.

I have them, too. Used to own a pair that I would wear when I worked in a long-term rehab facility and would be on my feet all day because they were comfortable and I could wear them with scrubs... got rid of those years ago, though. Then got a pair for gardening after moving to the ‘burbs. I wear them all the time

Yeah, exactly. Actually wondered if her eyes looked a little watery in the gif here, too. She was clearly emotional in her acceptance speech when talking about her dad. I’m amazed that she went to the Emmys tonight when she just lost her dad on Friday. Can’t imagine how she’s coping - I mean, maybe this is how

I meant for those to illustrate that employers are often wary of over-involved parents these days, and googling an applicant to find 500 pictures (again, including many inappropriate/awkward childhood photos) would likely be a pretty big signal that these parents are not the hands-off variety. Finding that kind of

I cannot see how it would affect her career though.

Potty pictures are not uncommon and usually people think they are cute and then move on with their day. Everyone was a child who pooped in a potty at one time. It’s not like seeing a picture of you wasted with barf all over your shirt from last Friday.

Okay, you and MotherofUnicorns have been giving me life with your posts because your love for your awesome kids has been making me tear up throughout this entire thread.

Seriously. How hard is it to just not send/post??

Me too!! I had no idea why till I just read this thread - got so happy! I promise to use my commenting power responsibly and un-grey good comments :)

Yup - Ray Rice, Baltimore Ravens. My hometown team. It was disgusting. It was also a great example of someone people didn’t expect it from because he didn’t “seem like that kind of guy.” I think it stung extra because he was a player who had been SUPER involved in the community and done a ton of anti-bullying programs

OH!! Thought of something else re: pets. If your pets are microchipped, make sure you update the contact info for their microchips ASAP when you move, so in the worst-case-scenario that anything happens or they get spooked or anything in the process or the new place, you can still be contacted easily. Apparently lots

Totally agree. Actually watched all of both seasons, and thought it appeared to have been done with solid thought and intention, as the women brought on the show *with* Caitlyn were unbelievably amazing, smart, fantastic badasses. I loved watching Jenny Boylan, Kate Bornstein, Zackary Drucker, and the others. They’re

I’m so sorry. Sending so much love to you and to her.

Moved across states a couple of times in the last few years... my advice:

I made this cucumber lemonade ( https://smittenkitchen.com/2014/09/cucumb…) for the first time like a month ago and I seriously cannot stop making it. Was going through so much of it that two weeks ago I expanded the recipe to a point that I legit ran out of containers for it and room for them in my fridge. My husband

My pleasure! Keep enjoying your great, amazing, hilarious kid! He sounds awesome!

I know! I hate it may be in the greys forever!

There are some good Motown songs that have good lyrics, are decently short, and aren’t over-played and thought of as typical first-dance songs, plus they have a good beat so you can dance to them... that’s the route we went for ours and it worked out great.
