Said this elsewhere, but another option - other than sweetheart table - is to have bride & groom sit with their immediate family at a normal-sized table (depends on size of your families, of course), and then wedding party either sits together at other tables, or scatter them at other tables throughout. We had 10-top

Exactly! Bride and groom either have their own small table, just the two of them, or sit with their immediate family. Wedding party either sit together at separate table(s) or are scattered throughout other tables with other guests. Ta-da!

Similar situation. One of these days, brother and his girlfriend will be getting engaged. Would love to be super supportive and happy to stand up for her, but so not into the associated festivities that I would be obligated to join - such as a bachelorette party with her and her ten-years-younger-than-I-am friends

Ack, double post, sorry!!

She refused to marry him unless he got a dude to be best man? That's harsh. My husband and I "traded" so we'd have the same-gender people on the same side - which, looking back, seems kind of silly, we should have had my friends on my side and his friends on his side - but we did each have the same amount of people

Get well soon!!

Me too. I eat it almost every day in the summer. Halve it and scoop out the seeds and put in some cottage cheese, and that is my breakfast almost every single day. And sometimes also my lunch, or sometimes dinner if my husband isn't home and I can get away with it and am not sick of it (I do sometimes need a day

What are these magic melons? I have never heard of any of them!

She frightens me.

It's really more of a melted butter delivery vector than actual quality foodstuff in its own right.

Actually, the post states that they knew the teacher had a severe allergy and would become sick from contact with hand sanitizer. What I find frightening about this plan is that it actually would probably have been pretty realistic. Most classrooms these days have large containers of hand sanitizer in them so the

Ahhh that was my thought too! Damnit.

Meanwhile, I'm a complete asshole! I skipped this part entirely: CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! All the best for an awesome wedding and marriage!!!!!

Good that your parents know this. My parents were paying for a significant portion of the wedding so it was harder to distance that way, but we were advised that even had they not been contributing, this was the acceptable attitude and anything different would cause significant rifts. It was kind of shocking because

Even the most informal ones I've gotten had an inner envelope of some kind. It's laziness really.

That sucks. I'm so sorry that happened. Alienating stepkids and such is never excusable. And inviting other cousins of the same degree and same age - yours should have been invited, too. That's just crappy.

Very sweet!

Exactly!! The only single friend at my wedding who got a +1 was the one who wouldn't know anyone else there. Everyone else was from overlapping friend groups and knew others who were coming, and could all have fun together. I should add - my friends are welcoming, friendly people, but if you're single and traveling

Yeah, I don't think we'd have put the actual rings on the ringbearer's pillow if we hadn't known the kid took his ringbearer duties so seriously. Little dude was 4 and he'd made his parents practice with him repeatedly beforehand because he wanted to be sure he'd do "a good job."
