I was actually thinking that's what this one was. Bummer.

I totally agree, and I worked on it.
"Germany Invades Britain Instead Of The Soviet Union"
Haha! But history — and alt-history — is fair game here at io9.
This was easily a top-5 episode in my book, along with the paintball eps and the zombie ep. I'm 37 so i totally got it and it was perfect, although i could see how it would be confusing as hell for anyone who didnt grow up with GI Joe. Even the "commercials" were spot-on.
Remember kids!
Well, if nothing else, maybe this will remind people that bison actually can run pretty fast, so you should not try to stand next to them? I spent ~30% of my last trip to Yellowstone scolding Germans on this particular point.
We have notes!
I don't know if I would ever describe planning as hubris.
Yeah, we do keep track. "Successful" is the wrong word (because traffic doesn't necessarily equate to success), but we definitely monitor the most popular, and that was our most-read story of 2013. (You can see the top 25 here: http://kotaku.com/our-25-most-po…)
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Let's chill out on the alarmist reporting for a second. I'm not trying to be an asshole but it seems to me that this post is rushing through a lot of the facts that you are presenting (and possibly not really reading a lot of the source material where these facts are coming from). I'm a huge…
I guess I will. Being completely honest here, I really love this community and the platform it had. I thought I was in a space where my comment would be taken just as lightly as the rest of the content here.
I really don't understand the "He's a pro now so it's his responsibility to cut ties with people that might damage his image" argument. Those friends of his only "damage" his image when people decide to unfairly judge Jackson based on his associations.
You don't think this is a good time for a semicolon?
Space was "sexy" when it meant large sums of money going to your district so you could campaign about bringing in large sums of money into your district. Plus we were in an ego war with those darn commies. Once we "won", the bulk of the money dried up and space lost it's "sexiness" to politicians.
I once read someone's review of the Wolf of Wall Street, and the critic had quoted John Steinbeck, who once said, "Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires."
If it were only a "few nutjobs," they wouldn't be holding positions in committees, and the entire party wouldn't vote in such lockstep as they do. That's why I gave up on them in the mid-90's. I could see it coming.
A large part of that is due to the polarizing nature of today's politics. There is no compromise, no swapping of favors (vote for my bill and I'll vote for yours), no ability to agree to disagree. It's if you say black I'll say white. It's "we loss on issue A so we will oppose everything else you want even if it…
Bingo. There is a lot of exaggeration in the small mining. There is a local joke that goes: How do you recognize miners? When you see a bunch of liars standing around a hole.
I live and work in these areas, I know lots of prospectors and miners, and I've done it. It is hard and dirty, but as another commenter said, I treat it like fishing. Something to do that gets me out of doors and doing physical work in beautiful country. You will find gold, because there is a small amount of gold in…
