Eh, they don’t really use plys anymore. Most truck tires nowadays are still only 3 fabric plys and one steel ply, even though they are ‘rated’ at 8/10/12 ply as compared to bias ply. For instance, my last set of E range tires were ‘rated’ 10-ply, but still only 4 actual plys.

Those are the best, along with the “my computer doesn’t work” or the software requests that have no information on them whatsoever like, you know, the computer that you want it on, or where you’re at, or what software you actually want (the big one lately is “I want Adobe”).

I absolutely loathe phone calls at our Help Desk (at a major University). Luckily, we have student employees at the front desk most hours to take phone calls and tell the people that they’ll create a ticket on their behalf and we’ll get to it when we can. We have so many ways to create a ticket, a phone call should be

Or, you have a 3 year old junker and you go to swap your battery and get a brand new one?

Now playing

Nope, moving the gear lever to the right just puts it in straight manual-shift mode (alternatively, pulling the upshift or downshift paddle will put it in manual mode until you don’t change gears again for a few second); you’re still in whatever drive-mode you were in before. To get into Sport mode, you can either

Sounds like an easy way for a dying company to free up/save money on server space.

If you mean GTI, then you were doing it wrong. In sport mode or higher up in the rev range, the shifts are instantaneous. Just piddling around in normal mode and not really giving it a lot of gas, the shifts are slow on purpose for smoothness.

Agreed, the DSG in the GTI is magical. Even in auto mode, if you’re accelerating hard and higher up in the rev range, and then start to slow down, no matter how gently, as long as your foot is on the brake pedal even the slightest amount, it will hold that gear until you take your foot off the brake or accelerate

Guy in the video said stock tranny and rear-end, but that will be changing soon.

If I ever get one, it will be a black on black C6 Z06.

Here’s my 15 seconds or less waste of an attempt in MS Paint. If you squint really hard, it may work.

Meh. I’ll keep my Mk7.5.

New one, you’re golden. 6yr/72k mile warranty, and from what I’ve read, all the kinks have been worked out. Just avoid the 2014-2016 GTI, they’ve been known to have some turbo issues.

Absolutely nothing wrong with this assessment.

When the (now) wife was buying a car, she had a similar 4 square experience. We went in and I told them flat out that X is the price that I think it should be, and we would both be happy with. Of course, got the whole oh no I don’t think we can do that spiel. Ran her credit, this and that negotiation, wife settled on

My last vehicle was the easiest, a 2016 Silverado 1500 Custom. Made an offer through e-mail, a couple back and forths on price, sent them the VIN of my trade-in (not worth anything, so didn’t care what they offered; just wanted rid of it), and set up a time to be there. A total of like 7 emails, and about 30 minutes

I would kill to have a ute here in the states.

“..don’t make any power” says the guy commenting on the article with a 4.0L V8 that makes 416 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque...

I like this train of thought, but would add up all (or at least more) insurance deductibles. Specifically, car insurance. If I get into a car accident and need medical attention, I need to cover my health insurance deductible, and my auto insurance deductible to be able to get back to work once I am healed.

Damn, must be nice. I work in IT at a major university, and we are not unionized. 40+ hr work week, mandatory on call with no additional compensation (at least it’s a rotating schedule), and no overtime.
