The DSG is definitely necessary, and cheaper in the long run than the manual for many people. Enthusiasts, specifically. The ones that are going to tune their car. When $600 gets you an APR Stage 1 tune that bumps you up to 315hp and 380lb-ft, it’s hard not to. But if you have the manual, you will 100% have to change

All I know is that I would pay a shit ton of money to have a transmission in my car that was a fully clutched manual where I can row my own, or put it in an automatic mode where it does everything for me.

What if you always shift from park straight to the manual mode in a DSG? Then is it primarily a manual, and optionally an automatic?

Volant is a child of TMG Performance, the same people who make CORSA, a big name in the Chevrolet world. I had a Volant intake on my Silverado, and it was good quality, with a Donaldson PowerCore filter. My brother had a Corsa exhaust on his C6, and it was also very good quality.

Yeah, but the power figures suck. They neuter the torque for the people with manuals and their garbage clutches.

Yeah, it’s quite easy. $140 for the good stuff (LiquiMoly) with the filler tool. Messy, sure, but if you can change your oil, you can change the DSG fluid.

Seconded, the DSG is completely worth it. I wanted a manual, but I plan on tuning mine and the stock clutch doesn’t hold up.

POP! goes the side curtain airbags.

My logic is (assuming an interest rate <= inflation) a loan that is 12 months less than the warranty period is acceptable. So 60 month loan on a car with a 72 month warranty, 36 month loan on a car with a 48 month warranty, etc.

Do a little research, Mr. Clause. This has been going on since 2014. It wasn’t sudden, and discussions have been had.

The truck is pretty damn awesome up until 3:10-3:13.

Anytime! I’d be happy to answer any more questions you have. If you can manage it, try to get a solo test drive and really put the GTI through it’s paces. It can handle it.

I recently bought a new GTI. Don’t put it out of your mind over getting the much more expensive R. The front diff is absolutely magical.

That Beetle may be the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.

Those aren’t suspenders, they’re pleats.

Yeah I got the DSG because of the known weak clutch issues, because I do want to tune it eventually. The only thing stopping me is that it has less than 3k miles on it, and I like the idea of having a warranty. I may try a JB4 soon enough, and move on to an APR tune later on. Will be getting an OBDeleven soon to

My Silverado was the same way. It had a limiter of 98mph, and the reason stated was the tires that came on the truck were not rated for that speed. However, though not widespread, I saw a few forum posts from people who removed the limiter and blew driveshafts when going over 115.

What is it with IT and Subarus? I work in IT and I know of two coworkers that have WRXs, and my Uncle has 3 IT staff at his office that drive WRXs/STIs.

The DSG is sooooo good. I love mine so much. I resist the urge to mod it every single day.

Shitty dealers are shitty. I bought a GTI this year and test drove both it and an R with no hesitation at all; all I did was ask. I was even clear from the start that “Hey I’m here for a GTI. Is the R that much better? Can I test drive one?” So yeah, definitely not a real policy (I’m 26 if that matters).
