Yeah, but Carroll Shelby breathed on the Shadow, which made it almost good!

The only reason I find myself jonesing for a third-generation Toyota 4Runner is to actually use it off-road, and as a stage rally sweep vehicle. I still prefer cars for commuting, and my wife has a Ford Flex kid bus, which most enthusiasts agree is really a tall station wagon rather than an SUV.
Absofrickinlutely. My #1 pet peeve, right here.
My ham radio antenna. They’re kind of unusual these days, unless you’re at a rally.
Fixing some lighting on the front of the Jetta ute.
We’d need the guy from the Hydraulic Press Channel to declare, “Orlove win, shitbox car lose, VAAT DA FAAK!” in his thick Finnish accent.
That’s easy enough with a little left foot braking. It’s one of the first things they teach you how to do at rally school.
And here I thought you were talking about Tavarish’s MR2 videos. :)
Oh yes, I remember when Ford re-introduced the brand new Taurus. WHICH HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FIVE HUNDRED!!! At least, that’s what Ford shouted at the time. No, I didn’t believe it either.
Nothing specific, but my asthma and high blood pressure, combined with the high amount of physical exertion (walking and moving equipment since roads are blocked), plus my simply being out of shape, was cause for concern. If I was 15 years younger I’d probably be there right now.
The Red Cross operations I volunteered for require a General license since they’re using HF to communicate with the mainland. But there are so many communication needs there I imagine a Tech with an HT could be quite useful. I’ve even read about hams riding along with police because police communications are down.…
Just be warned, conditions over there are pretty harsh right now. I volunteered to go over as a ham radio operator to help supplement their failed communication networks, and got a huge list from the Red Cross about the hazards - no power, limited water and food supplies, high heat and humidity without air…
Indeed. They’re being brought in by the Red Cross to help with communication between shelters and to relay health and welfare (“I’m OK”) messages to the outside world. I volunteered for the job but health reasons kept me from actually going.
Will it rally?
I can’t speak for the manufacturers, but I suspect you’re correct about electrical interference. Even lightning miles away can interfere with AM radio reception, so the strong alternating current of an electric motor may block out the entire AM band. The same applies to hybrids like the Prius, and there are many forum…
That’s the most hilarious ‘Ring lap I’ve seen in a long time.
Now’s a great time to kill the Jones Act, permanently. It’s terrible that Puerto Rico is currently destroyed. But abolishing the Jones Act now would mean that when they rebuild, they can build a new infrastructure to make them an important hub in Caribbean shipping. This could help offset the cost of construction and…
While less cool than this Cougar, my ex-cop Crown Vic was the most fun car I’ve ever rallycrossed!
At 200mph a little aero goes a long way.
I love Montreal. It may be replacing Boston as my favorite city.
