Sounds like the both of you should watch Broadcast News such a great movie and ushered in the era of vapid news readers.

Yeah, I always imagined he'd be a director to watch out for but man was he a two hit wonder. Also his original cut where it was a mystery that they were on an alien city isn't great. It plays too much like a Shymalan "Twist" whereas explaining up front makes it not about the mystery but about John Murdoch's journey.

Really, I found the final 45 minutes almost like being birthed again. The movie perfectly captures apathy but Clive Owen's change when he discovers what is going on is amazing. His death in the row boat is one of the most poignant things I've ever seen. Basically finding hope in the future, and being okay with letting

The premise of the series of The Leftovers is so terrible. If 140 million people disappeared off the globe it would be a terrible event, but spread across the world you probably only occasionally meet a person who knew someone who disappeared. Yet in the show acts like its an apocalypse scenario and towns are half

There are myriad reasons to hate Titanic; plot, bad cgi, terrible characters, but what really grinds my gears is that everyone's fawning love of it and its Blockbuster status effectively squashed better films. Case in point Dark City being trounced when it could have hit like The Matrix.

Paths of Glory is NOT a buch of pretty still photos and neither is Full Metal Jacket.

I like it but to me the analogy of Western/Frontiersmanship in space fails. Space is far more analogous to high seas exploration and survival.

Definitely a better ending than the risible ending to Breaking Bad that completely undercut the entire point of the show. It wasn't an amazing ending but still a decent book end to a series that was all over the place. Oh and that Regina Spektor song was so god awful it ruined much of my enjoyment of the episode. For

Disney's Aladdin. It's really bad, and I mean really bad. The took a timeless story and dated it with 90's humor and references. I love Robin Williams but this was a terrible choice and in 10 years the humor in that movie will be all but lost on most people.

There is an argument to made for style. Especially when in Daria almost all the characters are drawn that way.

Dumb job internet. Pretty much all the characters on Daria were drawn that way it was the damn style of the show. Holy crap this is stupid.

That is until Harmy made the despecialized versions. My VHS Letterbox copies were the only way to watch those in widescreen outside the special feature theatrical versions that were released on DVD in the early aughts.

Commentors on blogs are simply in the making stupid statements biz to sound smarter than they actually are.

Because its just a bunch handwaiving to dismiss an extraordinarily lazy and unimaginative Abrams. He's never met a short cut he didn't like, he never lets the viewer take in anything that happens, and his sense of scale, size, and dimension is godawful. It a B movie at best, and horribly lazy entry in the SW universe.

Wow this actually looks like a Star Wars movie worth seeing and not just a retread, recycled piece of blah filmmaking that was episode 7. I think it will be funny if this is better received that episode 7 and puts a nail in the "well we had to win people back so recycling the formula was the best way to do that." An

Got to see Midnight Special this weekend and it was yet another great movie from Jeff Nichols. I'd love to see an alternate world where this is a prequel or reimagining of Superman sure the powers don't match up but I think Jeff Nichols could definitely have a better handle on the character than its current cinematic

Such a great movie, every scene is well thought out, the performances are all great, and the theme of the movie is definitely touching especially as someone who plans on being a parent soon.

Yes but we don't know if the same process occurred to Bowman, that what Bowman and us the audience experienced in 2001 from the outside looked like the pod being ejected into deep space.

Ummmm no he doesn't he likely experienced the same thing that happened to Bowman. Either way we have no idea what happens to him.

Meh neither version really do the book any justice and both are doing their own thing. Both are also really great at what they are doing.
