Not mentioned here is that other studies reveal it’s overwhelmingly social conservatives. It was found that fiscal conservatives, centrists, and liberals shared false news stories at the same relatively low rate.

What’s also intriguing is how such a small number of users were sharing the vast majority of fake news - it seems to be a core group of angry idiots gullible people who sit at their computers all day long sharing crap with each other.

I read the paper. It’s not just “explains some what.” The correlation coefficients are at levels that social scientists can only dream about. Hell, I wrote a dissertation that had a key R^2 of 0.41. They knocked down o.75....

My parents, infuriatingly, do NOT fall for most fake news, and still vote Republican. They basically just still believe in Voodoo Economics and have no principles other than that.

Yeah, listen, I’m all for an athlete dunking on some heckling rube on Twitter. That’s all in good fun. But you never full-scale engage in a multi-tweet showdown and you DEFINITELY do not do a Barstool-esk targeted harassment campaign against them.

He seems like an objectively awful individual. The type that knows what he’s doing is shitty, but feels he’s “right” and that makes it ok. That being “rational” and “logical” is more important than being a decent person. And that can’t see his stupid, shitty emotions are neither rational nor logical.
