One of the biggies is Project Gutenberg ... They're doing a wonderful job of getting old books that have long since expired their copyright and entered the public domain and transcribing them to various formats, including EPUB & HTML.

I'm sorry that you feel that way about electronic books. For myself, they're a godsend. I have developed a problem that makes holding a regular book upright and turning the pages very difficult; being able to hold my iPad and just tap the screen with one finger is a huge help.
