Yes!!! I was so busy writing about Honor Harrington, I shamefully neglected this series.

Any of the David Weber "Honor Harrington" books, or the first couple of John Ringo Posleen War books - "A Hymn Before Battle" and "Gust Front."

If anything, it appears to be modeled after the flag for the United Nations.

Why did they stop flying? It was too much trouble going through security, especially with the leopard seals running things.

I think that the Mandarin has tried to pass off his powers as mystical in origin, on at least a few occasions, but they've always been from the rings he found from the alien crash site.

It's a frickin' movie. A comic book movie about a guy who wears a powered suit of armor. That flies. That doesn't turn him into a dripping sack of shattered bones and blood from godawful impacts and inertia. That shoots bolts of energy. That has a functioning (and sarcastic) A.I.

I think the argument could be made that the replicant makers would be the monsters.

I got t-boned while driving through a green light a few years back. The high school idiot ran the red light doing better than 50. Texting. I got a concussion, my car was totaled, and of course, his insurance didn't cover anywhere near enough to pay for a replacement.

I think you're right. The X-15 could easily have been adapted or modified to become orbital-capable. I think part of the problem, if it was a problem, was that a lot of the space program was showing off the technical power of the ballistic missiles each side had. It was more impressive, from a military and
