Plus, they can use their hump(s) for additional factoring. :)

Nope, sorry. I like the view from where I am. At least I'm not asinine enough to pick one company and rail against it, when I'm using products from other companies who are engaged in the practices that you're so horrified about. Until you give up using ALL electronics, the majority of transportation vehicles, telecom

This looks great. I'm going to have to pick it up!

My Intro to Computing teacher was not as kind as yours. She mentioned that little trick AFTER several of us met with disaster :)

Ferrets are aces at n-dimensional topology.

They're actually working on "inkjet" printers that print out skin cells for burn victims. I seem to recall efforts at creating organ scaffolding out of biodegradable material that then has cells transferred to grow into the correct shape.

I wrote my first program in college on a keypunch. Dreaded the walk up to the operator's window to drop off the stack, always terrified I would stumble and watch a snowstorm of cards flutter to the floor. *shudder*

Acer, Amazon, Apple, Cisco, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Intel, Microsoft, Motorola Mobility, Nintendo, Nokia, Samsung, Sony, Toshiba and Vizio - ALL use Foxconn in China. And, since Foxconn isn't the only manufacturer over there, I think it's pretty safe to assume that there are even more companies than the ones I listed

+5 jillion :)

This could be a true "sea change" for Microsoft. It's going to be interesting to see how this turns out, whether they're actually doing what they insist to their (current?) OEM partners - "priming the pump/showing how it should be done" - or if they are truly going a different route.

For what it's worth, I seem to recall in one of the many Iron Man issues I read years ago, that Tony Stark had invented and implemented some form of inertial dampening technology, which helped explain the lack of Hamburgerization(tm) whenever he tangled with The Hulk.

"An asteroid the size of Texas is hurdling towards Earth at about the same speed it takes for me to buy a gun in the aforementioned state."

There SHOULD be trading cards for scientists, engineers, mathematicians. You never know what might serve to inspire the next Stephen Hawking or Marie Curie.

Rainbow 6 scared the crap out of me because the bad guy premise was unfortunately too plausible. I somehow doubt that there is currently an organization that would be able to respond as quickly or effectively as the one in the book. Curse you, Tom Clancy!

Good, wasn't just me, then!

Love that Asimov story!

Love to see something like this with more of a defined structure. Can you imagine a Lunar Lander-shape? You could do some awesome stuff with it. Have the thing set to simulate 1/6th gravity, then practice landing at a specific spot ... maybe a plastic mat with craters? Have the thing drop off a flag or pick up a

Last week, HSN (Home Shopping Network) jumped the gun and was selling Windows 8 notebooks. From what I understand, Microsoft asked that they pull the listings. Not sure what they did about all of the orders placed.

Whenever the Enterprise got hit, he never got thrown on the bridge.

+five jillion! :)
