Awesome. You win! :)

Chile is a southern neighbor. Chili is a southern dish.

Sorry; my sarcasm/joke detector threw a segfault :)

Nah. It would either be THX-2278 (Twice the movie @ Twice The Price!) or the prequel, SGW-0569.

Should be a counter organization formed: One Million Gays - OMG! Would be worth it to just see OMM freak.

The first couple of Necroscope books were great. You're right about the exclamation marks, though. :)

Yup! Very cool. :)

"At normal viewing distance." That's why the new iPad has a lower PPI than the iPhone 4 - the normal viewing distance is greater for typical iPad users than iPhone users. As someone mentioned in a post below, the new higher PPI displays will be great for eyeglass applications, where the screen would be much closer to

"Live And Let Drood" is written by Simon R. Green, not L.K. Hamilton. #corrections (edit - whoops - already beaten to this - sorry!)

Sounds like it. Shades of the Amiga's interlace-mode display!

Wonder if they could somehow use the same tech/concept as the TI chips used in projection TV's that have the micro-mechanical mirrors...

"Why, Doctor! Is that a Hand-Held Dalek in your pants or are you just happy to see me?"

Very true :)

Yeah, you're right - I should have mentioned that along with the T1000. My bad! I also forgot the TI 99-4A.

Sony's just released a 4K projector. Granted, it's a leeeetle 'spensive (something like $26k, but who's going to quibble over price?)

Yup, I do believe you are right. The Amiga 500 was also well within that range; the 2000 was closer to $2000 (including the monitor.)

Maybe someone has already mentioned this, but in the early 1980's there were several computers that could be bought for well under $1000: Amiga 400/800/800XL, Commodore VIC20, Commodore 64, Commodore 128, Timex-Sinclair T1000 ... I'm sure there were others that I'm forgetting. Not sure what the adjusted inflation rate

The only one I liked out of that book was the prehistoric Garfield, where we found the origin of the word "Cat" (caveman for "Darn!") and cat's instinctive fear of dogs.

Me too - that was pretty cool. I wonder if we'll ever get to the point of realistic/usable holographic interfaces?

I suspect that 40 years from now a lot of display technology and design will look very little like what we're imagining now. For instance, look at the original Star Trek series and their consoles - timers with rolling numbers like car odometers, etc.
