I’m 66 years old. I became a feminist when I was 5, and my older sister was told she could “join” a model airplane club my father belonged to. She could pay dues, but not attend meetings or meet because she was a girl.(My father promptly “unjoined” that club!) I’ve been waiting 61 years for today.

Can we at least remind people that Donald Trump was endorsed by someone who thinks suffrage for women and racial minorities was bad for democracy? And that his party has been working hard to disenfranchise Black, Latino, and poor people? The Republican platform may not explicitly call for disenfranchising women and

Must be nice to be someone who wouldn’t be directly and adversely affected by a Trump presidency.

My favorite definition of “progressive” is “agrees with me on all issues that I consider important to being a progressive”.

Being a progressive means you hate Hillary? That’s news to me. I thought being progressive means fighting for progressive issues, not creating a purity test of which of those issues are necessary to be considered progressive.

Dear God.

Not surprised. These people, many of whom are first time voters because of age or previous indifference, were told that Hillary (and not Trump) was the enemy for nearly a year. Many of the younger ones come from Republican homes where Hillary has been Public Enemy #1 since before they were born. They who are trying to

Took my almost 4 year old with me today. She helped me feed the ballot into the machine and I explained that I was happy to vote for a women to be in charge of the country.

Amen and well put. As a woman, I don’t think I fully understood how much I needed to see that until I saw her up there

Her speech, with its references to Seneca Falls and all the history that came before, was in perfect tune.

I sincerely hope you are correct. This thought process is what is helping me sleep at night.

Scandalous

This seems to be a strawman, because even her fans would admit she’s flawed. This very story mentions that.

yeah, i don’t disagree with you on the identity politics nightmare of the dem race right now at all, but it is still incredibly remarkable to me that david brooks pinpoints neither her record or her gender as the source of unlikability — and instead brings up the fact that she needs HOBBIES

I’m fine with Bernie staying in the race to accumulate votes and show Democrats that there is broad, national support for a progressive agenda. I am not alright with him staying in the race in a desperate bid to win.
