It used to be really easy to install the google play store on a fire tablet and you can’t beat them for the price if you’re mainly interested in a media streaming device. otherwise I agree with you.

For $40-50, they are an excellent media device. They are also the right size for portability. I bought one for my mother a couple of years back, set it up so she could download and borrow books from the library, Amazon, and watch videos using Prime. She’s happy, as that’s all she want from the internet and such toys.
