Is anyone else surprised how well this actually works? What are the odds the chine lines would line up?

Yeah but everything was cheap then. New car? $17. College Tuition? $47 per semester. You could get a house for $90 and carton of cigarettes.

And, then there’s cars that should of had rectangular ones to begin with.

a basic sealed beam headlight was $2-3 in 1985, assuming 3%/year inflation that would be $5.62-$8.44

a basic pair of H11 bulbs is $20, so $10 each.

but if you need to replace the assembly (like if you smash it on a shopping cart) replacements can easily run you $500 (current model Ram 1500 for example cost my buddy

How much cheaper, accounting for inflation?

That would depend on the true condition of the Viper and the insured value. Torching your attached garage is a risky way to score some (eventual) cash.

Lol, the thought hadn’t crossed my mind until now. You have to admit though that the Viper is a car that is always looking for a way to kill its occupants. Why settle for only wrapping you around an oak tree when it can also burn you to death while you sleep?

Okay but am I the only person who thinks this sounds like insurance fraud?

C’mon, everybody knows your dad got you that job. No one making over $200K actually sacrificed and worked extremely hard to get to the higher end of the income distribution. /S

I live in a very “red” area and the appointment invites are sent out and if you don’t click the link immediately, you’re back in line.  But yeah, hyperbole is more fun.

I can’t stand this obsession with thinking people that make more money aren’t doing their fair share. In Canada, as a doctor I’m considered well off, but I’m the only person I know that pays 10% tax to the hospital, then another 50% on everything from 120-216k and 54% above 216k and then 15% sales tax on whatever’s

How dare you suggest private industry could run something better than the government on this site!

And it still loses money, despite the high traffic and $9 cheeseburgers.

I consider myself a disillusioned libertarian.

1st - I must be missing something, because I don’t see how giving money to auto manufacturers is going to help our infrastructure. Giving GM or Ford cash to build more EVs doesn’t fix roads, bridges, power plants and electric distribution networks.

The problem with “just tax the rich people” is that eventually, and far sooner than you think, you run out of other people’s money. The only equitable tax is a consumption tax. If we’re going to pay for “infrastructure” we should start with maintaining and repairing what we already have. Since you’re so concerned

I’m shocked they haven’t used this before. It’s kind of a grounded name that’s still current, and has a positive feel. Wattever. I’m sure they will charge an arm and a leg for it, anyway.

GM is racist because it said no to being bullied by the race card into spending money on a few special interest media sites that don't generate sales? Got it.

The entire premise of this article is wrong. The car is not cheaper. It still costs the same. The consumer is just being subsidized by other tax payers.
